I dig the genre, though I probably couldn't name many artists or any specific songs. Jack Johnson has elements of Raggae in his music though, and I love his stuff.

Yea Jack Johnson is good.

Ive been exploring a lot of Bob Marley's music.
I think that Marley is often used to just be some kind of icon for white kids who want to smoke weed and pretend to be cool so i avoided listening to him properly until recently (now that i am uncool and don't smoke weed).

It's the best music to have on if you're having a swim!

Its awesome music to have playing on a lovely hot summers day, whilst chilling doing nothing, or driving.

In a similar vein, anybody like ska? :D

The only thing I know about ska is what my friend tells me about this band called Leftover Crack, and the fact that we jokingly keep talking about starting a ska band called 1/1 Ratio Lemonade.

Aha.

Thats modern ska-punk stuff. I'm refering to the classic 80's ska, Madness, The Specials, Selecta, Bad Manners etc?

I wouldn't know, as I said. Don't expect me to know what's what. :P

Ok. I'll excuse your ignorance, just this once.

I recommend giving some of these bands a listen. In my humble opinion, ska music is the most dancable music ever conceived.

:trumpet: :bocul: :drink:

you get the picture. :D

Agreed. I also enjoy Fishbone, for they are most excellent. Sunless Saturday is one of the shiniest songs I ever did hear.

Oh, and yes, I listen to a very wide variety of genres outside of metal, and I'm sure a great many other HDR forum users do too. Good music is good music.
