It kind of worries me that David Hayter could play Solid Snake in a film...

David Hayter is Solid Snake dammit.

And there was never any talk of HIM playing Snake. He was set to write the screen play. But I think Hayter could play a good Snake...I mean the voice would be perfect after all.

The first part's true, but as for the movie, his proposal for the screenplay was shot down by whoever gives the go-ahead. He's urging fans to appeal to them to accept it. But I think you're right--Hayter would make a fine Solid Snake, assuming he's not as he was in the introductory "TV" bit of MGS4.

Of course it would be nice and all that but I'd rather see Kojima concentrate on a totally new MGS chapter, one that concentrates a bit more on stealth gameplay again rather than action, action and more action.

This is exactly how I feel. I'd much rather see something new (maybe with Big Boss?) that's more along the lines of MGS3.

To confess, MGS1 is the only MGS game I haven't played (aside from the portables and the original Metal Gears), but I ordered it for GC a couple days ago. My feelings on MGS2 were that the VR Missions that came with Substance were more fun than the actual Tanker-Plant business. Also, the voice actor for Raiden was miserably bad, and it was so unbelievably irksome to have to play as Raiden instead of Solid Snake for the majority of the game. And if Raiden is the main character of this potential MGS5, so help me I will hunt Kojima down.

Also, MGS4 was disappointing in the new control scheme. I got so used to the controls in Snake Eater that the change was sort of a drawback to the game. The old controls were unique and stealthy, while the new ones seem to cater more to the "action-packed" element of MGS.

A remake of MGS3? If you count Subsistence as a remake, it's already been done. But really, I love that game, and I wouldn't want it tainted with the messing they'd do if they remade it.

Hm. I doubt it will be remakes, in all honesty...but it would be nice to see in MGS4's graphics engine.

I beat MGS3 upwards of 7 times...I do adore said game :realscott:

Me too. Did you watch any of that crazy Fox Hound run I posted the other day (in this thread)?

No...I should though. I love speed runs. Me and one of my friends are probably going to try and speed run Resident Evil 5 again one day, try for under 2 hours.

I watched a video of an interview with David Hayter awhile back where he mentioned having some sort involvement with the MGS movie, even despite his screenplay getting turned down.

David Hayter could pull off a good Snake, I think. Its just that no one but fans of the series would go see the film because he isn't exactly a household name that would attract people to see the movie.

As for remakes of the series, I vote to leave the Solid series alone. If they are dead set on making a past game over, they should definitely go for the original Metal Gear or Metal Gear 2. I played both on MGS3: Subsistence and I fell in love with MG2! A remake of that would be perfect: It would have a lot of appeal from die-hard fans, newbies to the series would find it to be a good starting point in terms of the story, not many in the US were even able to play the original MSX versions of the games, and they both came out nearly 20 years ago so an update wouldn't be horrible.

Also, I'm hoping MGS5 lets sleeping Snakes lie, and covers the evolution of Raiden and his time in Area 51. Ever since people saw him being all sorts of cool in MGS4, they've been captivated by the idea of playing as him, myself included.

I would kiiind of like to see a game revolving around Big Boss. Y'know, again, after MGS3. I think it'd be awesome to see how it got to the point where he got cloned, and why he was chosen, and teh shit what he did and that.

Assault on Dark Athena? It's fun...It has a remake of Escape from Butcher Bay which was awesome. Assault is a lesser game than Escape in terms of originality and style, but it looks better and plays a little smoother.

I think Hayter would make a good Snake, but I have a feeling it'll be someone closer to Christian Bale for just the reason you mentioned (Kojima mentioned Viggo Mortensen--what the fuck?). Whatever the case, I'm not sure whether to expect great or horribly ridiculous things from a MGS movie.

As for MGS5, I like Phase's idea--I really want another Big Boss adventure. I think MGS2 permanently associated a feeling of annoyance with Raiden for me (at least), and I felt like that adventure was all the time (and more) playing as Raiden that I needed. I got more than enough of his back story (etc.) in MGS2 and MGS4, and I felt that there were good reasons that MGS3 gave you the option to knock out Raikov and that MGS4 had Raiden getting mutilated and disfigured at every turn. But, that said, a MGS game is a MGS game, and I would be surprised if it were anything less than awesome.

For some direction on what MGS5 might be about, check out the eerie countdown-to-E3 site from Kojima Productions: http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/next/index.html

If you watch it long enough, you'll see some familiar faces and symbology...kinda supports my theory of the game being based around Raiden. But nothing is certain until approximately 60 hours from this post.
