Helter Skelter

Alot better than most other Charles Manson related movies i saw.
Jeremy Davies did an AMAZING job playing Manson, its scary to see how much he looks like him and just the way he moves and talks. its like watching the real Charles Manson!

Which ones? IMO his stories lose a lot by removing book's narration, King is great storyteller.

And Dreamcatcher was rather good, though first half was a lot better than other one.

i thought the dream catcher was absolute trash. to each their own eh? the shining, book and movie, are both equally good i think... i actually think that most of the movies based off his books suck balls

hm, i dont remember the last movie i posted about seeing so, off the top of my head here:
Spider
eXistenZ
Oldboy
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance

All of them were pretty good.

The Shining is one of my all-time favorite flicks, so the book was quite disappointing for me.
Misery was a good book to screen attempt.

well, i read the book before i saw the movie. when i saw the movie i was super disappointed that there was no emphasis whatsoever on jack's past. that's a major part of the book cut out right there. the book was a tragedy and the movie was horror, so the first time i saw the movie i hated it.

eventually i grew to like it for what it was though. there's some things that kubrick added/removed from the story to make it work better on-screen. a faithful rendition of the novel would probably be boring... and when the hedge animals come in you'd be laughing your ass off.

The Shining's first 20 minutes are annoying though. That girl really cannot act without being forced to do 200 takes or whatever it was that she had to do for that staircase scene.

and i need to re-watch Misery. I was like 10 when I saw it. don't remember a thing.

Kubrick's "Shining" was ruined for me by Jack Nicholson. I mean, come on, how can you believe in transition from normal (ok, he was a bit troubled, but about normal) guy to madman when you're looking at actor who _always_ looks like totally evil mofo. He's just have to make this thing with his eveybrows and he already looks like someone who eats little babies. And he did it quite early into the movie.

I really liked The Shining as a film, never read the book though. I have trouble with Stephen King, he's a masterful storyteller but I can't stand his writing.

And I thought his "look" added to the eeriness of the film - like you just knew this guy was going to eventually go nutso, if not right off the bat. Plus, there was the unsettled issue of whether or not he had abused his kid (corrected him, as he put it), and therefore I was suspicious of him right away. Surely the hotel sensed something "off" about him right from the beginning; an easy target aside from his previous alcohol addiction.

'Twas my first horror movie, and it scared the crap out of me! It's a classic.

eXistenZ is propably the WORST movie I've ever seen! It is HORRIBLE.
Oh my god, I cannot believe how many times I've tried to watch it, but I can't.

It is really bad.

I give 2/10.

I'm a bit of a Gilliam-phile anyway, but I missed it at the cinema. Loved it.

Yeah, that one's pretty entertaining.
