I used to love it as a kid. Then moved away from it at around 9 when I moved into the world of metal, and continued being all dogmatic towards it saying I didn't like football and thought it was way too much "chavy" thing.
Though recently I realised it was all stupid and I do in fact think it's an entertaining sport. So I've been following it quite a bit, and am now thouroughly anticipated for the huge event we all know as the World Cup. Anyone else?
I'm really looking forward to it this year because it looks like it's going to be a really open competition. I followed football religiously as a kid, sort of lost interest between 2004 and 2008 because I got hugely into the NHL and NBA and was never home on weekends to watch football, and even if I was other stuff like MotoGP would come first. Gotten back into it in a big way in the last while though, but even if you don't follow football all the time I think you can enjoy the World Cup.
It'll definitely be a European team this time around, I think. The Netherlands, England, Spain, Italy... They all have really strong sides and some of the teams that have been announced for the likes of Brazil and Argentina are minus some pretty major names.
I'm also wondering if anyone dare to stand in the way of North Korea... That crazy motherfucker Kim Jong Il would probably be willing to blow any nation that beats them to smithereens.
shut up and kiss me you walking infection

I hate it
Well it has a lot to do with everything that gravitates around: the stupid fans, who act more as bashers of the other team than supporters of "their" team, and of course the fascists, nationalists (and more generally the close-minded) who just use it as an excuse to fight.
The unwillingness to change the rules (video, temporary penalty as in hockey, rugby)
And the game itself which I often find boring. Not many shots, some nice plays from time to time but a lot of waste of time watching some guys running across a field that seems too big for them, guys falling over and over, raising their arms to ask for an offside pretty much before even thinking to actually play, dirty play (Henry's hand for the qualification), and the list goes on.
It may be a sport you can play everywhere as long as you have a ball, it seems really prone to anti-play and unsportsmanlike conduct.
I also have a tendency to start rejecting everything that someone tries to put in my brain (either sport, music, movie, etc...) and I'm really sick of the constant media brain washing about football (France just got the euro 2016, so the other day at each news on the radio, every hour, they'd spend 2 minutes to tell us we'd know in 4 hours, 3 hours, 2 hours, 1 hour... WON'T YOU JUST SHUT UP UNTIL YOU HAVE THE DAMN INFORMATION !?!?!).
I prefer hockey and rugby (though with rugby sometimes the games are really unbalanced), either way I don't watch that many and each sport probably has its bunch of crap.
Overall I wonder why sport (as a spectacle) attracts people so much. How some people pretty much have more respect and "love" for some guy making big bucks or teams made of the aforementioned guys, than for their neighbour, or anyone else. Sport makes them dream ? Whatever...
It also keeps them away from the real problems (same old thing since the Roman Empire). It's a bit like religion to me. I feel as if people should ask themselves a lot more questions about it, but yet, they don't.
Is it related to deep instinct (seems like it attracts males more than females), is it some kind of proxy for wars and patriotism, or nationalism ? Some kind of proxy for being more then "just a random guy with a normal life", etc etc, I don't know.
To be clear, I'm not against football, or sport, but like many thing in the current time, it seems to have become perverted and milked to death, losing its authenticity.
"It looks like the sport team from your area, is superior to the sport team from their area"
I hate customers. In particular, the rude, irresponsible, vulgar, and needlessly appalling ones; especially when they have their nosy partners with them, who are even more rude, vulgar, and appalling - hell, the main customer doesn't even have to be available, they act like rotten bastards just the same!
My fault for working as an outbound collections rep I suppose, but hey, at least it's not sales; that's even worse. Although, if I am speaking to somebody who has Dr. as their title, by default they are dickheads. I can count on one hand how many "Doctors" I have spoken to who were nice. Yeah, I know you're busy, that's why there's the option of CALL BACK LATER. I know it's only $55, but it's $55 YOU DIDN'T PAY when you were SUPPOSED TO! Pay your bills on time and WE'LL STOP FUCKING CALLING YOU! YOU HAVE A DEGREE, SURELY YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THIS LOGIC!!!
Rant over. Please do not ask what company I work for, I do not wish to divulge. Anyone who works in similar roles can relate, regardless of the company.
