Something is rotten in the state of France (well, this isn't really new, just one more proof) :

"The new president of the HALDE (High Authority against Discrimination and for Equality) doubles her salary".

Now this is positive discrimination.

Another one, one week ago :
"On the day that he has asked the French to work two more years before retirement, one of his ministers has been caught spending 12,000 euros a year of tax-payers' money on cigars."

Damn. :x

I'm now glad that only tobacco and a few cat hairs covers mine.
And it does clean off with a few blasts with a can of air.

Beard hair would be a tad impossible and just weird. :)

I really like a few things about the new iPhone. The iOS4 has some really great features to it (have it on my ipod touch), but this is really bad on Apple's part...

Tell me 3 things in iOS4 that other phones can't do. You can't, because there's nothing.

And that antenna problem... I absolutely cannot comprehend how they had the fucking alls to release that thing like this. It's ridiculous. Tough luck for the 600,000 Mac Fags who pre-ordered one within the first 2 days.

I'm happy for it, the perceived higher quality of Apple needs to be nicked down a few pegs.

They have always been an alright midrange option. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well the app switching feature is something I haven't seen on a phone before. Maybe it's on something like Symbian but it definitely isn't on Android. The folder feature isn't exactly ground breaking, but it's definitely easy to use on iOS4. And well that's it. The only other thing I can think of is the upgraded display resolution. Funny too, that after all this time they are still (from a tech spec stand point) behind the pack with the power of their phone. Yea it has the A4 chip, but it's still under 1ghz speed. Every major smartphone on the market right now has a 1ghz processor (save for the Droid 1, but both the Droid 2 and Droid X will have 1ghz processors)

Here's Apple's response to the antenna problem:

A friend who used to work on the iPhone can't wait to get one and rip it apart to see what's what in it. However, he's also guessing he knows how this could possibly have come about.

All iPhone prototypes are apparently covered in plastic (I didn't ask why, protection I suppose) during testing. He's laughing about the idea that no-one actually held the bare thing in their hands so the issue wouldn't have come up before.

He also mentioned that the signal strength meter is now more accurate and shows fluctuations in greater variation.

So they look like ordinary iPhones and not the to-be-released next generation.

The iPhone's new resolution is higher than other smartphones, but it's barely perceptible unless you look really really close just to see it. Just that Apple gave it a fancy name ("retina"? WTF) doesn't make it revolutionary.
As far as I know, "App switching" is juts Apple's (very limited) attempt at multitasking, which smartphones always have been able to do (except the iPhone). Including Android.
