The dark night. Loooong but awesome! Heath Ledgers was frightingly good as the Joker, he even surpasses Jack Nicholson in my opinion. Bale was way better in this one, thought he was a little stiff in Batman begins.

9/10

The Dark Knight : Better than begins, which was better than most super hero movies I've seen, which isn't really difficult (ok I don't like super hero that much), but it's still a hollywood big movie, and I wish it was more than that. Nothing worth a 10 IMO, not 9 either. Entertaining, sure, less hollow than most recent action movies, but it lacks atmosphere and - though I didn't even realised it until someone mentioned it - sympathy for the characters (it started to be fun when some characters died, and got better when some more died  ).
Also Gotham really needs some gothic architecture.

Beowulf

Wasn't too bad. A lot of the animation of the humans was kinda crappy. The dragon was awesome, as was Grendel. The story was okay.

GravityEyelids wrote:Survive Style 5+ ---> This is a very creative and visually beautiful Japanese film that is so damn fun to watch. It isn't a very deep film, but for all its wackiness, there is sentiment to be found. Well done.

I second this, not VERY deep, but not shallow either^^. I like how most scenes in the movie are some kind of metaphor, caricatural or kinda satirical of real life situations.
And the photography is remarkable.

If you like Japanese movies, I'd suggest The Taste of Tea (subtle, contemplative, not so much going on but far from boring, positive, one of my favourite movie) and Kamikaze Girls (kinda shallow this one, but really pleasant to watch).

Anyone has seen "The Holy Mountain" by Jodorowsky ?
What a weird movie. I had seen it a few months ago, but I forgot how fucked up it is

Les Miserables... I'd have to say one of the best movies I've ever seen. When I turned on the tv I was expecting it to be one of those boring movies, but really it was great. I may attempt to read the book (by Victor Hugo). Usually I do it the other way around because Hollywood likes to screw around with the details sometimes... But either way it was a great movie.

Others that I've watched during the last 2 weeks that I think are definately worth viewing:

Donnie Darko
Eyes Wide Shut
A Clockwork Orange
Malena
annnddd..... My Cousin Vinny

Yep, watching movies instead of doing homework...Hell yes.

Fun with Dick & Jane, for like the 10th time. The scene with the voice transformers always kills me.

Good call. I enjoyed Kamikaze Girls more than I thought I would. It isn't a top favorite, but I would definitely watch it again. The Taste of Tea, I wasn't too fond of, but I think I just wasn't in the mood for it at the time. I want to give it another try.

Ah yup', I should have said something like "you should watch taste of tea when in a quite mood" or something, if you were expecting something like SS5+ it may not have had the same effect.
I have to say that I watched it when not feeling that great, and it was so uplifting, I had a big fucking grin on my face during the whole movie, and hours after  mmh more like this one : :D Thinking about the triangle song just make sme smile even now :p
I really like how the feelings are expressed through "subtle action" (or through totally over the top action, like the mangaka being beaten) rather than words.

Biert, there's something wrong with you :P

Well, I watched ToT earlier this year, so I really didn't know what to expect. I think my post came across more negative than it should have. I definitely enjoyed some scenes, especially the Yakuza ghost with the turd on his head.

By the way, Falk. Come, baby! Come, come, baby!
