I didn't want to talk about this, but my own grandfather past weekend before last. I was so very glad that my last memories with him were in his garden and farm, letting him show me around and talk about the things he loved about the farm. I didn't want to let him go, but it was a little easier knowing that my last words to him were, "I love you, grandpa, and I'll try to come back as soon as I can."

I'm so, so sorry for your loss - but I'm glad you were able to say those things to him. All too often we don't tell people we love, that we love them - and then the chance is gone, and that breaks my heart. Happened to me with my grandfather and I still kick myself over it.
So now I take the time to tell folks I love 'em, it's something I feel is so important. I just wish it wasn't something that took a tragic loss to make me realise. :/
