WALL-E

11/10
SO GOOD!

I'm so horrible at wanting to sit down to watch a movie. I got the DVD for Christmas, and I finally watched it this past Sunday night. I've still not watched The Dark Knight, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk (the latest one), and Wanted. There's something wrong with me. :(

Fountain is also a bit of a headscratcher but it all makes sense to me, if it wouldn't, i'd propably hate it. Should I give Mulholland Drive another spin?

It is kind of weird for the sake of weird, but almost all of David Lynch's films are weird. Sometimes it takes more than one spin.

Anything written by Charlie Kaufman is worth checking out as well (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and his new one Synecdoche, NY). Those are all pretty interesting films.

Strange how an animated robot can make you all teary eyes...It's just heart melting. "Eeeeevaaaaa"

I'm also terrible at putting my ass down and just watch a movie. Whenever I have two hours over I usually end up here, posting crap. :)

Watchmen this was absolute delight. Loved comic, and can't wait director's cut. 5/5 this one.

Wrestler day before Watchmen, not bad.

Leatherheads - Amusing but lightweight movie trying to imitate the style of the those sparky 1930s comedies. It didn't quite hit the mark though.

In Bruges - Dark, daaaark emotional comedy about two Irish hitmen sent to the town of Bruges for two weeks. The acting was top notch. Some very funny dialogue indeed and some hard and deeply sad moments too. You just kind of knew how it was going to end as the plot unfolded. But perhaps not quiiiite in the way I'd imagined at the end. Very worthwhile movie though. I'd recommend it.

Watchmen.
Loved the book, loved the film. I think Jack Snyder did a good job with it.
I think some people may find it slow, as a few of the friends I went with thought who hadn't read the graphic novel.
Good call for the Directors Cut, I think there was some stuff I saw in the Japanese trailer that wasn't in the film, like Hollis Mason getting killed.
Just got this from Wikipedia:
A DVD based on elements of the Watchmen universe will be released; it will include an animated adaptation of the comic Tales of the Black Freighter within the story, starring Gerard Butler, and the documentary Under the Hood, detailing the older generation of superheroes from the film's back-story. An extended edition of the film, with Tales of the Black Freighter interspersed through the main storyline in a manner reminiscent of the comic, is forthcoming.

Same here, I don't have the "reflex" to watch a movie. I may download one and totally forget about it. Then months later when I browse through my folders, I may click on the file just to check the quality or watch just a few minutes, and end up watching the whole movie. And same with DVDs (DVDs annoy the hell out of me btw, those loading screens are so annoying, as well as the DVD player noise)

Last seen movies :
Slumdog Millionaire : Over hyped, and over-rated IMO. The mix of harsh life story in Mumbai's slums with cheesy love fairy tale didn't work for me. And the ending really pushed it too far (not the Bollywood dance, but the actual and of the story). Still an enjoyable movie, the kids are great, but not worth the fuss and hype.

Lost in Translation : Hadn't seen that one, well, great movie. Great acting, nice picture, well paced and all.

I saw "Milk" and "Watchmen" yesterday. Milk probably goes as one of my favourite movies now, while Watchmen was just a waste of my time. I'm sure it was good, but I guess it wasn't my kind of movie. I didn't get it, I guess. xD

I really liked Watchmen. Probably the 1st comic based movie that I really like (well there's sin city too, but it doesn't really have any superhero). Batman returns kinda sucked ("that weapon turning water into vapor is so dangerous it throws sewer plates high in the air, yet we - made of what ? 70 ? 90 % of water ? - can fight just around it, woohoo !"), the dark knight was highly overrated, I didn't like what I saw of the x-men, and never cared for the others, but that one was great. Can't really tell why I liked it that much, but that's the 1st action movie in a long time when the story grabs my attention raher than the mistakes and errors.

The Pick of Destiny (by Tenacious D) : I really liked that one too, haha  I'm usually difficult to please when it comes to comedy (my references would be monthy pythons and the big lebowsky), but I kept laughing in front of this one, despite the overload of "fuck". Their tunes are great too. It's a different great than the one I'd use to describe uh... let's say Ocean Machine, but they're great anyway. :P

2010, the year we make contact : mmh, not bad, not good, average. Nice to see an SF movie that isn't "overdone", keeping the "realistic" touch of 2001, but of course in no way comparable to its magnificent prequel. Kinda desacralizes the monolith though. The part about HAL9000 (HAL THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD ! lol) is cool though, kinda.
