It's spider heaven down here. Snake heaven too I guess. And having grown up with spiders everywhere I find them pretty cool creatures to observe.

dont get me wrong, i love to observe shit and whatnot, but these suckers will attack you for the sheer fuck of it, absolutely unprovoked, so unless you really want to get bitten (im talking necrosis in matters of hours and death :D) you gotta be the bigger sucker, and set them on fire, or just step on them like regular people

Damn, that's a badass spider!

No argument here. I had to kill a red back a couple of weeks ago because it was crawling towards my finger as I was carrying a box it had decided was its new home. It was the spider or me and I won.

Luckily we don't get funnel web spiders - they're our really aggressive spiders, a bit like your pal there. In the top 3 in the world for venom and I'm very glad they stay 3 hours up the road in Sydney!

Huntsmen on the other hand are great house spiders. They look awesome and eat all those pesky bugs. Oh and they make people scream which is always fun! :dead:

Whitetails. When it comes to Aussie spiders, they are the ones I most detest (as I've stated as nauseum). Huntsmans might look big and scary, but they're benevolent by comparison. Then again, I don't get redbacks or funnel webs here, either, so that's good.

I usually take the grab a nearby shoe and smack it approach if I have a poisonous spider, we only have the smaller brown recluses and black widows out here, and really in the urban heart of San Francisco, we just have harmless house spiders and wicked garden spiders that are beautiful.

My old housemates killed them and mosquito eaters (crane flies) all the time. To them I submit "You're doing it wrong."

I have a problem with ants though. Hate those fuckers.

Ants are easy to hate as they are an extremely effective social insect, I did some research on them in High School and really liked what I learned.
I did not like it when they invaded my fathers house and we would get bitten during our sleep.
I like spiders too, as they eat annoying insects, and they do it while looking cool. I have a spider that made it's nest on my balcony door, it's been there since early august, and Ive fed it bugs I caught a few times.
The thing with all this is that there's no poisonous/venomous insects or arachnids up here, so it's easier to accept them.

I'm glad I live somewhere there are no really venomous anythings. I've seen Australian relatives reduced to tears by midgies up north though.

Wasps. Wasps are pretty unpleasant. Especially when stuck down your trousers.

Yes. And now for something completely different:

Just when you thought dressing as a Playboy bunny was bad. They say it's educational in that it's a reminder of such events, but I find it in bad taste.

That is genuinely shitful. It's not even funny in a black kinda way.

Just one more spider post... I was on my phone before so I couldn't be arsed trying to post a pic of a funnel web. Truly a spider not to be fucked with, with HUGE fangs:

But it's all good, we also have the blue ringed octopus, the box jellyfish, the irukandji jellyfish, the stonefish, the taipan, the tiger snake, crocs, sharks and other fun things that can kill you very quickly. But you're almost certain not to be killed by any of them. Happy family!

I leveled up to store manager in real life yesterday. As a result, I had a weird dream (the kind of dreams I used to have alot, several years ago) where basically I was being hunted by two sides; dinosaurs and people with insane technology and weapons (my subconscious has amazing graphics btw!). I'm actually exhausted now after that dream. I definitely know why I had this dream.

My 10 year old sister informed me she saw A Nightmare on Elm Street (original) for the first time today (at my other sisters' house). She said is was funny, but not scary. Then again, she saw it in daytime, so when night fell, and she decided to be cool and sing the "Freddy's coming for you" song, she started to scare herself. She now regrets seeing the movie as she might get nightmares after all.

Freddy gave me wet dreams...

nah, he didn't. Watched the Nightmare flicks when I was a kid too, they didn't seem to bother me too much. But the 'Blind Dead' flicks kinda scared the crap out of me when I was a kid, heh.
