Looking forward to the new GTA 4 DLC: The Ballad Of Gay Tony. From trailers it seems to have that over-the-top atmosphere which made GTA Vice City so awesome. I know, they're just trailers so they may not be completely representative, but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless. I can never have enough GTA anyway.

Until Mafia 2 comes around that is. Oh yes.

Is "I Am Alive" still set with the same concept? I heard it got pushed over to Ubisoft I believe instead of the original developers? Correct me if I'm wrong on that...

Though that game looked like it had A LOT of promise of being a very original game in today's day and age of sequelmania.

Earlier this year Ubisoft decided to pull the plug on using Darkworks as a developer. They wanted to develop it internally. There were rumours floating that this was going to result in an over-haul of the plot, I read in a few places that it was gonna become some mythical thing with dragons and all that, but thankfully that was all a pile of shite!

Nevertheless, it's annoying as hell that it keeps getting pushed back and back and back...

Ubi has too much on their plate as it is. Working on 2 games that are set to be blockbusters, Splinter Cell Conviction and Assassin's Creed 2.

Trust me, patience is best with Ubi, they have yet to announce another Rainbow Six game and that itself is making me mad...so they better make up with those 2 games. I Am Alive will be great dude, I'm sure of it.

There's new content on the webpage. It looks VERY promising.

I'm also looking forward to CoD MW2, that game looks like it's going to be the best one of the year.

So, like the others...After playing the Brutal Legend demo, I am sold on it. Full of metal cliches and Tim Schafer environments that are just mind blowing. Full of his creativity making it a major stand out in today's world of "realism" in games. Will definitely be buying it.

And yes, Jack Black does seem to fit the roll some how...

finished Halo ODST with a friend and am close to beating Dead Space Extraction....both are lots of fun!
I enjoyed the Brütal Legend demo BUT mostly due to the humor, the gameplay was pretty typical hack and slay. I'll have to see if it's worth the money.
Uncharted 2 in 2 weeks....yay!

So I was watching a gameplay trailer for Battlefeild BC 2, they really stepped it up on the destructive environment.
example, a dude hucked a grenade in a building window and when it exploded all the glass on that level shattered.
and ANYTHING can be blown up to send shrapnel killing unfortunate virtual souls below it, endless possibilities.

Finished The Witcher: Extended Edition. First, tutorial-ish bit of it (in Kaer Morhen) was bit tedious and I started to think this will be as unimpressive as I expected. But after that story really sets off and everything after that made MIGHTY impression on me. This is most mature game I've ever seen - and not mature in "TITS ALCOHOL AND KILLING SHIT HUR HUR" sense. It's mature in its bitterness, grey/grey morality and lack of clear and easy pointers "how to be a noble hero" (concepts of good and evil are sorta blurry here). None of that "karma" gauges known from Fallout, only informations about morality of the player character are things connected with his personal development - things like "I've realised I'm not a fatalist" or "not every monster deserves death (some are useful)". Rest of that is manuevering in the world where everyone seems to have some hidden motives and only actual honest side is monsters - which want just kill and eat stuff. Situations in game often force you to do dirty things for dirty people (for "greater good", or rather "choosing lesser evil") and after ending some quests you're forced to think "what the fuck have I done" - because game won't pat you on head and say you've just earned gold star for being good - basicaly, everything's to your judgement. Also, you aren't that much of an allmighty hero - Geralt the Witcher is sort of monster-killing mercenary earning money for "solving problems" and is often unwillingly manipulated by some of more powerful persons in the kingdom of Temeria (which's often pointed by game's characters, treating the Geralt like a petty dimwit who doesn't know what's happening over his head). Game's also rather long - it was soild three weeks of wandering in grim, disillusioning world for me.

That being said, yes, there are tits, alcohol and killing shit. Lots of women in game are uh, scoreable, you can participate in drinking contests in inns (which can end up with your opponent being more shitfaced and giving you some valuable information, or you being shitfaced then waking up in some dark alley without money) and kill lots and LOTS of shit in many ways. Oh, and game's incredibly sweary, which actually really amused me many times becauses swearing is really hardcore, yet dialogues are witty and have a ton of references to local (especially political) situation. All of these can lead to the conclusion that game's misantrophic, sexist and whatnot - but it isn't. It just requires critical thinking on the player's part.

In other words, I'm reverting to my previous opinion about Mass Effect - it's overrated shit with cheesy flat space opera plot and pretty talking heads, go play The Witcher, it's smart (publisher is smart as well - game is DRM-free).

(wow that was long)
