I was kind of hoping the rumor of Vibeke (Tristania) would turn out to be true. I was also hoping that Floor Jansen (After Forever) would take the job. That would be amazing. Pipe dream, of course. After Forever are awesome in their own right, but Floor's (what a retarded name) vocals are so goddamned awesome!
Anyway, I heard the new song when it leaked the other day and knew it wasn't Vibeke. Although she is capable of singing in that register, I didn't think it would be natural for her to sing a whole song that way. Oh well.
New song is a great Nightwish ballad. I see a lot of shit-talking on the net about how it's a pop ballad and the band has sold out. I'd like to stab those people in the eyes. They're suggesting every other Nightwish ballad isn't a pop ballad? Pffft! Haha. Clowns.
Anyswayze, there is a video clip on the site that has a new song playing in the background. It sounds wicked heavy, with a lot of orchestration, and Marco tearing it up on vocals. I think acquiring Marco was one of the best things the band has done. His voice is killer! And while Tarja's voice was unique, so is his. So while this new chick sounds more typical of the female voice, Marco will still set Nightwish apart from the crowd. And I think this new album is going to be ridiculously orchestral. I think it's going to be a lot of "Ghost Love Score" and "Planet Hell"â€â€which is totally fine by me, since those songs are amazing!
