"Once I started 'clearing up', I found that reality in many ways is much HEAVIER than the drug world. It has sharper edges and less release." Devin on creating without drugs
Motion personified alpha... took me so long to figure out what that meant.
Listened to the record now and then at my brother's.
Found it musically interesting at times, but the concept feels a bit cheesy and overblown. I think it could have been better with more creative input from other people than just the mastermind himself. Dev's song is definitely one of the best, apart from the useless organ interlude. Devin's performance is stellar.
There's a funny bit in the bonus "Making of" DVD, where Lucassen talks about trying to get Devin into the project, and Dev declining until Lukassen proposed him writing his lyrics and melodies himself.
As for Devin and Ã…kerfelt on the same disc, why on earth add James LaBrie in their company...

I think it was more like Devin and Mikhael were added to his company. James LaBrie plays a much much MUCH larger role than either in the album.
I like that organ interlude. Hated it at first but now it's my favorite part in the song. That and the ending.
