I've always thought it's a shame that so few people listen to the band Ram-Zet. They make this really awesome Avant-Garde metal music with death/industrial/gothic metal elements.

Hopefully, their new record will be ready soon. :)

Cynic, had one album released in 1994 called Focus, half an hour of jazzy fusion based death metal. Awesome.

And their new album Traced in Air is out... in a few weeks!

Go go go!

One of the best bands at Wacken this year I think!

This is true. There was a 2004 repackaging of Focus that has some worthwhile bonus material. Also, if you like them, check out Atheist (another good jazzy death metal band).

Well, you might try some of the following, if you haven't given them a good listen before. They might not be what you're looking for, but they're all worth giving a shot.

Emerson, Lake, & Palmer
Emperor
Farmakon
The Fall of Troy (The Ghostship EP and the album Doppelganger are both pretty good.)
Led Zeppelin
Liquid Tension Experiment (Essentially Dream Theater, but it's still uniquely good.)
Pink Floyd
Seventh Wonder (Their first two albums, Become and Waiting in the Wings, anyway.)
