Shit, yes.

Played it twice, and haven't been so impressed by a game since perhaps Half-Life 2. :amen:

Played the demo, graphics no work. Sucks having a 3-year old pc.

Yeah I read about that somewhere.

IGN compared the two versions against eachother. Murder scenes have been blurred and a movie was removed. The movie was a scene with testicles and a pair of tongs :? :speedo: :speedo:

I see whatcha did there. :P
Just beat it the other day on medium, got the good ending (saved all the Little Sisters). I didn't much care for the last third or so of the game-- after the infamous 'big twist' that is-- and the ending was kind of a letdown. The final boss fight was really cool, though.

For the most part I loved the game, but I didn't like how ridiculously chaotic the combat got-- I'd have splicers jumping at me from all sides, basically STUCK to my face, and I'm trying to figure out what's shooting me and where those flying blade things are coming from and where the HELL that turret/camera is... Then I shoot the "would you kindly let me inspect your wonderful face" splicers a bit and they go running off to some place where I can't see them, only to come rushing back a moment later and stick to my bloody face AGAIN... There's intense combat, and there's just plain annoying combat. The sad thing is, I was watching a making of video where they were talking about a past E3 demo and how it was made to be very chaotic and intense for the sake of showing off the combat, and then afterwards they decided to 'make the whole game like that.' The guy was even praising it, saying how 'great and chaotic' it was then.

...What the fuck? I just can't grasp that concept. It's not fun. Not at all. It becomes a chore, and an incredibly frustrating one at that. The game just has no dynamics in terms of combat, in every single area it's always "FIGHT OFF THE BLOODY SPLICERS TILL YOU CAN'T" over and over. Even in the areas that should be nice and atmospheric, and possibly even creepy, you get yet another area to trudge through and dully fight of more of the bastards-- kinda ruined the atmosphere now and then, hearing a random yell of "DON'T FUCKING JUDGE ME!" or worse, "Jesus loves me, this I know!" ...Yeah, the voice acting was great, and certainly enhanced the mood, but maybe holding back a bit on the mad amount of enemies around every fucking corner would have been a nice decision (and also taken care of the random mood-breaking line here and there). The game might actually have frightened me then (It only scared me once during the entire game, and that was a cheap scare of me not seeing a splicer that was standing right behind me), instead of making me think "it's alright, probably just more splicers living here. I know it's not really abandoned or creepy, the buggers will probably jump out from around that corner right about... yep." And I was right every time. :P

It's not even the lack of enemy variety that gets to me. I'm fine with that; it makes sense in the context of the game. But for fuck's sake, more enemies = more fun just does NOT work as a game design philosophy!

The game is great. No denying that. The story is simply incredible (for the first two thirds of the game, at least), the characters are rather well-written, and the atmosphere is (sometimes) excellent. The controls are tight and the weapons/plasmids are all balanced well. The combat should be great and well balanced too, but the way they pulled it off holds the entire game back from being "amazing," for me at least. Not to imply I had a hugely difficult time with it, but the combat was just extremely annoying-- which, really, is not something combat should be in an FPS.

Would you kindly all play bioshock?

Maybe when they put it on ps3. :P

Seriously though, I might check the demo out after I get around to upgrading my pc, because there's no way in hell it'll run on my current rig.

Too bad we can't buy the original version in the end :P

As for Bioshock, an ok game in my book but I wasn't that impressed as I thought I would. Judging from some of the initial reviews that is. The game was well polished though. Except for explosions which I thought looked a bit more amateurish compared to the rest. And the sound design was a bit weak leading to some confusion while playing. Voices seemed to be very near for example even if they were further away.

I've heard that it's quite possible to get the PS3 with a decent discount, because it's not very popular and retailers are willing to sell below the official asking price just to sell some. Is that true?

(Still, they're very expensive of course)

i know ebgames has a deal for a used ps3 at 300$ if you bring in 10 or 15 applicable games
i tried out for this deal, but the standard for wich they rate game is just ridiculous
other than that, theres rumors of a price cut for xmas, but not by enough i'd say

It still might come out. In the Netherlands they don't have any laws prohibiting it's sale, so R* could still release it in it's uncut form. A lot of people would be importing if that were the case.
