Just got an email from my recently-married brother that his wife's mother has been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma (lung cancer).

Sometimes, things in this world can be truly fucked up.

Really sorry to hear that swerve. Do they know if it's spread or if its confined to just the lungs?

And Dunkel, jesus...

Apparently there are multiple tumors in both lungs, which may be a metastasis from the cancer of the uterus she was treated for 2 years ago. She also has some fluid in her pleura (which is how the cancerous cells were discovered actually), they're draining that now and if that fluid doesn't come back they're going to start chemo I think. As far as I know the stadium is not yet confirmed, think we'll know more next week.

The call I had with my sister-in-law yesterday definitely ranks in the top 5 of difficult calls I've had to make. :? Went to a concert later in the night to distract myself, but I thought the second band wasn't so great but oh well.

Facing family in crisis is NOT fun. The best you can do is be supportive for your family and do what you can. Take from this no matter what the outcome, that despite our beliefs on where we go when we die, our time on this rock in space is so terribly short and precious, and what matters is the connections we have with the ones we love. It's a cliche I know, but when you start to hear it from older relatives and it almost sounds like a chorus of the same message it kinda starts to sink in.

Why? :(

There's simply no justification for this kind of crap. It's Sophie all over again.

The fucking idiots who did that need locking up, badly. :(

I totally agree. I do hope they catch the guys that did it.

I hope things turn out far worse for them, then the poor bride they pushed down the stairs.

Hopefully if they're caught they'll be named and shamed. That's the least they deserve.
But you know the justice system in the UK, they'll probably be given 80hrs community service and a 2yr suspended sentence.

Personally, I reckon they should be publicly humiliated...Or at least themselves being treated worse than the poor bride was, whether that be physically or mentally...IMHO.

We can be disgusting creatures, we humans. Hardly surprising there's little faith in it left.

:(
