Tis my first car that I've had for 7 years.

As lame as it sounds I'm pretty sad about it, moreso than irritated.

Sad news. What kind of car is it?

That's probably true, but to be honest, I've only put about 250 dollars worth of repair into the thing over 7 years (not counting you know things like tires and oil) and it's like... I truly love it.

I cried when my first own car was exploded.

the second got taken to a junk yard and recycled, but I didn't cry because he made other parts important by giving parts that they needed.

third one I left at the car dealer, but felt really, really really bad!

un-awesome is now on! I feel bad for all my cars now :(

Being sick & not having internet.

On the bright side, both issues seem to have been fixed now. And I got to play a buttload of Death Rally and started playing some old Sierra classics too. It wasn't all bad I suppose.

Pollution badness:

Image
22-year-old Zhu Xiaoyan had a tumor in her stomach in 2007. She died after number of hospital treatments on July 2008.4-year-old girl with her grandfather came to mother’s tomb.

Seeing all this happening in China is feels really unfair.

Give it a roll.

Yeah sad that goes down, Bhopal Disaster 1984. can't believe that, I saw some photos when I was a kid, fucking terrible. Terrifying, blindness, piles of bodies, people searching for their children in mass graves literally blind, some clutching them, not knowing they're dead because their senses were so heavily damaged. I'm in awe, there are some strong people in the world, to get through that. can you believe that company is still thriving? it's the second largest chemical manufacturer in the world, Dow chemicals. Wow America, good job.

The company at the time of disaster was Union Carbide, not Dow. Although yes, Dow took them over and that plant is still standing, I believe in the same piss-poor condition.

Bhopal is used in pretty much every chemistry education as an example to show how bad things can go wrong, even when all safety measures appear to be in place. That plant had several fail-safes, but none of them worked due to broken gauges, bad maintenance of pipes, gauges in places operators cannot see clearly, essential parts being removed for maintenance, etc. Terrible clash of circumstances leading to disaster.

We used Bhopal as a case studio when I was in University, and was one of the reasons that I got interested in Environmental Chemistry and is one of the reasons why I work in that field now.

Hm, I do believe China is actually the most polluting country in the world. At least we're trying to do something about it.

Actually China probably is doing much more about it than most Western countries.

Most of us are just pointing our fingers at China while sweeping our own waste under the carpet.
