Just watched The Fountain for the 5th time. I can't get over how perfect it is. The score, the visual effects and story go so well together.

10/10

Saw Avatar 3D today, and I must admit that I loved it to bits. I didn't even think about resorting to the iPod!

It's a visually gorgeous movie... probably the best looking film I've ever seen. Pandora is a stunningly imagined and realised world. The colour, light and design is something to behold (3D very much recommended and I have a middle ear condition so if it doesn't mess with my vision and balance, you have to say it works pretty well).

I agree with you Seb, the story isn't breathtakingly original, and one or two characters are Cameronesque cardboard cutouts. But... wow, what a beautiful thing to watch. No spoilers, but the environmental/spiritual aspect was surprisingly moving. I walked out thinking I'd be very happy permanently being a 9ft tall blue alien, so it certainly sucked me in.

No artistic masterpiece, but right up there as Hollywood entertainment.

then later i saw Where The Buffalo Roam which is a film about Hunter S Thompson with Bill Murray. good movie, but it couldve been better. Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas is a much better HST film i have to say.

See Gonzo.

BTW, Sherlock Holmes is disappointing.

F'-ing Wild Wild West with a strong performance by RDJ.

Watched Trees Lounge again the other day. Steve Buscemi's directorial debut. It was good reminder of why it's still one of my all-time favourites.

Nothing of consequence happens, and I suppose in a way that's the point. Great portrayal of alcoholism and a man's life being pissed down the drain for no good reason. Also very funny at times, and has this inatngible atmosphere that I love. I think it's a combination of the beautifully worn out piece-of-shit sets (especially the bar), perfect casting and acting, great use of music and the fact that Steve Buscemi is just an all-round legend.

Watched District 9 Last night. best movie of the year! really makes aliens take on a whole new role. everything about it is awesome.

top 3 films for 2009 for me would probably be:

1. District 9
2. Watchmen
3. Avatar

Definitely put a different spin on your average alien movie, that's for sure! I definitely dug it.

i have not seen a movie in a long time. my verdict is that i need to see one soon.

i think the last thing i saw was... uh... well i have no idea. Who's the guy that wrote "No Country for Old Men"? I read another book by him and it's now a movie starring Viggo Mortinsen. I'd like to see that. And also "A Serious Man" because I love the Coen brothers oh so dearly

Avatar in 3D.

Fairly unsurprising plot, but stunning visuals and soundtrack so it makes for excellent storytelling.

However: unobtainium. They seriously must've used up all their creativity elsewhere.

Same here, absolutely stunning. And why not unobtainium, it's just as well might called Freddie's arse gold if guy named Freddie had found it first

Nice, it's such an underrated movie, good to see someone else here appreciates it. I also watched a marathon recently:

- Sin City
- V for Vendetta
- Watchmen

And something unrelated to the above: Amélie :)

The Fountain is one of the most beautifully constructed movies ever made. Ever watch the extras on the special edition? They show you how they made all those visuals...stunning. What is that method called again?? Something to do with miniatures...
