Rightfully deserved. His character/acting were great.

the Wolfman It wasn't that bad as some critics claim it to be, bit of old school werewolf action/acting going on here. There was maybe too many those sudden scares, but otherwise ok.

Just saw that last night.
Totally agree, wasn't as bad as I thought, quite fun too, when you set your mind and
attitude to watch it like you were in the 80's :D

And Anthony is very, very intimidating person on the huge theatre screen :D
Benicio really fits well as his son, both share the bags under the eyes
Some things needed explanation, but were left hanging, were a bit annoying, but nothing too bad.

Overall I give it 7,8/10.

Edit:
I just remembered that I have seen something else too! :D

Avatar 3D

Oh dear, what to say :D
I think we all are familiar with the story, and after watching the Trailer Failure (http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/teamt/dw/tf) Avatar episode ( can't remember which one! ), I feel a bit.. :?
Nevertheless, Avatar is of course very very beautiful movie, and there is denying that.
Still the embarrasing Pocahontas-feelings just kept bubbling and took the final edge with them.

Now, over 2 weeks after I've seen the movie, I have to say I miss it!
I didn't get this right after we were walking out, but I think I am a nerd enough to get lost in that world.
But they are just too skinny..
:D
3D didn't offer as much as I was looking for in this movie, some hwoah-moments, but most of the time it was still very blurry and subtitles were bouncing around to get away from action.
I have hoped for that kinda update, but combined with this new 3D-tech it was hard to keep up.
And you had to look always at the right spot on the screen to get the dimensional view working.
Is that something just I have experienced? Or are my eyes weird :D
Aaaand Sigourney's avatar is scary looking.

With that very professional "review" I present my score to Avatar.
It is 8,9999/10

I just watched Pandorum

At first I thought it was just going to be a generic horror movie, with creepy things jumping out at you. It accomplished that well. But, by the end it became a bit of a mindfuck... It all makes sense now but while watching it it really got my heart pumping and  Pretty good movie! Spectacular performance by Dennis Quaid. Probably like an 8/10. Characters even got developed!

Law Abiding Citizen I liked it, Gerard Butler is very versatile actor me thinks :D Somehow it reminded me of Saw movies, although this is not that type of movie (torture porn that is). Then Surrogates and afterwards I was thinking that I should watched these movies other way around since this was really weakest of the two.

I, too, <3 That Guy With the Glasses

Last movie I saw was Big Fan.

It was effing weird and I liked it because of that.

I give Wolfman an 8/10. The make up and werewolf effects were fantastic, and Rick Baker is the master at building a monster; only the CGI was hit and miss. Benicio del Toro not only mirrored Lon Chaney Jr's countenance, but also allowed believability as a haunted man in mourning. There were times where I thought he could be a bit more organic though. Anthony Hopkins echoed Hannibal Lecter a bit here with the aloof and slightly insane father, and I couldn't help but have fun with him every time he was on screen; definitely a stand out performance. My only real complaint is Joe Johnston has a habit of directing good build up and drama, but when action time comes around he'll either be really good or really impatient, and blurry. Still, he did a better job than pretty much all of the other werewolf films released in the last decade. I don't make that statement lightly, either.

Wolfman redux

There was mention of an extended DVD to be released with more storyline, 17 minutes worth if memory serves correct - theatrically they wanted to quicken the pace to the first transformation, and not bore the "I WANT BLOOD NOW" individuals of the audience. It really grinds my gears that as of the last 10 - 15 years "unrated" or expanded cuts have become the new black, with some of those added scenes better left in the deleted items section; in the case of The Wolfman, however, if it gives the story more flesh (and thus more bite), then I'm open to what can be seen.

Alice in Wonderland ( I was so tired I forgot to say what the bloody movie was.... I fail at life completely today.)

Firstly, I was tired and not feeling very good when I saw this so it was probably a lot better than it seemed at first.

It was however, an enjoyable and rather sumptuous special effects packed fantasy. Slightly unusually set out. I wasn't bowled over by it but it was very good nonetheless. The only part that really jarred for me was the stupid dance scene with modern music near the end. That just didn't sit right with the rest of the movie. Forest scenes reminded me slightly of Avatar at times. Cheshire cat was awesome, as was Rickman's portrayal of the caterpillar. Mad Hatter's change of accent from English to Scots as his personalities flipped around was an interesting quirk.

So yeah, definitely worth a watch.

Saw the movie 'United 93' tonight. It's a movie you need to be patient with. It starts very slow and the first 30 or so minutes seems to be just filler. But it builds very nicely and ends up being quite gripping, despite you knowing what the outcome is. Very well handled.

Finally saw Moon last night.

Quite an impressive technical achievement on a $5mil budget. I watched some of the Q&A extras on the DVD and it's interesting to hear Duncan Jones's thoughts on special effects. Especially when you consider this movie shared its time with Avatar, which in many ways is the polar opposite of Moon.

I loved the use of miniatures for the sets and vehicles. Despite the odd moment where you think "this looks like a Red Dwarf effect", it creates an entirely different atmosphere than using 100% CGI. As he says, there's that intangible feeling you get from those late 70s/early 80s sci fi films that is just not there any more. At least until Moon came along.

Even more than that (and I'm not bashing Avatar here, I really enjoyed it for what it was), Moon is about character development first and foremost. It's about identity, isolation, hope and despair and the whole thing is acted out superbly by Sam Rockwell, who I find to be one of the most interesting actors in Hollywood.

In ten, twenty years from now, I have a feeling it will be Moon that will be replayed over and over in our house, not Avatar.

Right up there with Inglourious Basterds and District 9 as favourite movies of the past year, and in some ways (hey, it doesn't have Christoph Waltz in it!) possibly the best of the lot. 9/10

Moon, like Inglorious with me, gets better as time passes.

I cannot and will not say the same about any of others.
