well. the 1st 2 are classics. the 3rd ones horrible and the 4th is ok

I remember being younger, I think I was about 10 or 11, and Alien and Aliens were being shown back-to-back on television. Scared the absolute bejaysus outta me more than any other film ever had.. or probably ever will. Classics... I've never seen the third or fourth ones, though.

best not to. the 3rd one is one of those hollywood tragedys where there were script and production problems rendering the movie a pile of puke. the concept they originally had was acctually extremely interesting instead of what they chose. crappy situation, unlikeable characters, horribly paced story, etc. the 4th ones a decent action flick but id prefer it wasnt connected to the 1st 2 films.

i dont know if yall know this but Ridley Scotts acctually making 2 new alien films that are about before the alien came aboard ripleys craft. lets hope its not robin hood in the future

Busy man for 71! Wonder if the adaptation of Brave New World is still happening. Hell, my favourite movie is Blade Runner so perhaps the man should just stick to classic Sci Fi.

Oh, and from all I've heard I think Robin Hood's going to be a tight arse Tuesday DVD for me.

I think one of the initial ideas consisted of monk colony INSIDE the wooden planet, or something. Yeah, that would be interesting to see for sure.

I don't get the hate for 3rd one, I love the setting - kinda makes the movie dirtier, darker and scarier than the ealier ones. Fincher as fuck. Monster's more foul than usual too. Top movie.

edit: that about the wooden planet wasn't ironic. I'd actually see it, weird sf is, uh, fantastic.

I liked the idea of the alien grabbing a monk through the toilet seat.
Personally, I found the atmosphere and setting of Alien 3 good, and the Alien POV angles great, but the acting was disappointing, the story was quite flawed, and the rod puppet effects severely retarded what could have been a great creature (the close up effects where it was an actual guy in a suit were good).
Alien 4 I hold on par, as that was, in my view, a film with an interesting approach and idea that was largely stale, and is best viewed as a guilty pleasure.
Both films were better than either of the AVP films, though.
I concur with the sentiment of Scott not screwing up the Alien prequel, although this is the first I've heard about two projects.

Revolutionary Road. Very bleak and character centred film, based on one of my favourite novels ever. They leave out a few details that could have enhanced the story a bit, but otherwise a very successful adaptation. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet played those characters just right.

Just saw Shutter Island last night. Fantastic movie. My wife loved it too. Could have done without the Auschwitz flashback BS. Seemed like it was there to "remind" us of Nazis and WWII rather than have anything to do with the story line. Have to admit the dream sequences were awesome. Reminded me of David Lynch work.

Bookwyrm83 wrote:Flesh For Frankenstein is similarly bad, but Udo Keir's acting is funny. As are the gore effects.

Finally started watching the Bourne movies starting with The Bourne Identity, of course. So far I like the first one the most. The confused state Jason Bourne is in at the beginning and the scenes that follow are just great.

I want to watch Prince of Persia, but I'm not a big fan of Jake Gyllenhaal's films to start with. I can only hope that such video game adaptions like this is done properly and worth watching if someone like Jerry Bruckheimer is doing it.

Saw it for the second time last night, really good. It's cool to look for details when you already know the ending... ;)
