Portal. Oh my god. Eehehehe. Since I'd probably go on even longer this time, I'll just paste a post from another forum:
I just spent all day playing through it. Twice. (Once without the commentary, once with)
...In one sitting. I've never done that with a game before, or even attempted to. I think I got up once, to answer the door, during the entire two playthroughs. Unlike almost every other game I've played, Portal never, ever frustrated me or seemed unfair. It may be the most pleasantly-balanced game I've ever played. (Not to say it's too easy either, because it's not. It's just right)

God, I'm in love with this game. I can't express how much I adore it. Portal is my Companion Cube that I refuse to euthanize. I love the look of it, the music (minimal but awesome when it comes in... the mellow stuff especially), how it plays, the overall design, the voices-- god, I love the voices-- just everything about it. I don't believe I've ever gushed this much about a game before, but to me at least, it's justified.

***VERY VERY MINOR 'SPOILERS' AHEAD***

Also, I love love love love the credits song. So awesome. And casting Mike Patton as the 'Anger Sphere' was genius. Saw that the second time through the credits, I was like "OH! Awesome!"

***VERY VERY MINOR 'SPOILERS' END***

...So yeah, now you know my insta-fanboy opinion of the game. Fuck, I've never enjoyed a game this much. Maybe others will be kinda 'meh' about it, but I adore it like no other game before it (oh yeah, sweet rhymes). I plan to make my very own miniature companion cube. Eehehe.

~Josiah

That's right, Mike Patton is in the game. So yeah, all you fans have an extra reason to play it! :P But really, this game is fucking superb. Just bumped Bioshock right out of my 'game of the year' spot. I knew this thing would deliver...

Anyhow, now I'm off to go play HL2 Episode Two.

Awesome news about Portal, its good to see there involving more musicians with video games these days. I remember the last game Mike Patton worked on didn't do so well, it was the Darkness in case you were wondering. He played the voice of "The Darkness" and helped with some music elements in the game.

I'm looking forward to the Orange Box on Xbox360, I passed HL2 but never got the chance to play the other episodes. Never the less those 2 episodes will be in the Orange Box so I'm not complaining. This Orange Box pack is turning out to be pretty awesome, we get HL2 plus the 2 episodes, Team Fortress and Portal, not bad for a game which will cost roughly the same amount as one Xbox360 game.

Just gotta express my portal love here too. that game is fantastic + hilarious. the humour adds so much to the experience. love it.

Also, I recommend getting on PC due to the controls. EP2 would be ok on 360, Portal would be tricky in parts but TF2 would be awful

I don't have an Xbox 360 but I do have a 360 controller for Windows so I can choose anyway :)

Can someone share their Portal game with me please? :( :P

Never was a Halo fan. I guess after Perfect Dark I stopped gaming for a while and when I came back to FPS, I discovered the PC shooter. After that, console shooters have felt very unsatisfactory to me. Halo was the first big console shooter i played after getting into PC FPS' so I probably had unrealistic expectations when people said "Halo 1/2/3 is the best game everrrr" and such.

Portal is fun. HL in general is great.

But I haven't played a shooter yet as fun as UT 2004. I'm pumped for UT3. I have Game of the Year hopes for that one.

I'm abit shocked they went back to the original way of playing, which is you running around killing hordes of aliens. Seems the idea of a tournament has got abit stale with the company and they went back to the original way of playing. I assume for the first few levels of the game you'll be in the tournament, until you discover all hell has broken lose and your the only person who can save the planet. Still, its a good idea to mix it up I'm a little sick of the tournament genre and wanted something with a little more excitement, not saying that the tournament games didn't have that its just if you keep doing the same thing over and over again, it gets boring.

I still reckon Mass Effect will shit over everything thats coming out this year, but I do hope Fallout 3 does keep some of the charm which the originals had, thats another game I'm looking forward to play.

Bioshock almoust done already, had to find something
kinda similar to play after it, so I bought Prey.

I hope I can finish BS tonight, so I could get on with
the Prey ;)

Prey is so bloody long, its just as long Bioshock.

OK, took first glances of Prey last night, it was ...
Well, it was strange.
Graphic looks weird after Bioshock's eerie world,
the whole "walk-on-the-walls"-paths and the "soulwalk"
confuse me slightly.

After 1½ hrs play, we got stuck so bad that we quit.
I miss Bioshock already.
Bought Parappa the Rapper today for few euros
It was fun for an hour, but then I just started to miss BS again.

Few nights ago I dreamed about a new Silent Hill
(really just my imaginary game, dang), it was so cool!
It had Pyramid Head in it, I was sooo happy!
He's kinda, don't know, sexy?
No, but I get nice creeps when I see him
In the dream the game looked awesome, had a similar
start as The Room, but after walking out of the room after few ghost clips it was all new.

I felt so sorry when I woke up!

But Prey, still trying to figure it out.
Maybe some war games tonight instead.

Well, Silent Hill 5 is in the making, and apparently looks/feels very similar to 2.

I love the Silent Hill series, I reckon the best horror games ever made.

There is a new one in the making, they do have some short videos of the progress so far. I don't think the story is set in Silent Hill anymore, its on the outskirts like "The Room". Still, I maybe wrong since the video I saw didn't have much of view points in the game, just weird shit flying everywhere and some guy ranting on about something. :P

You can check out the trailers and game status at either http://www.gametrailers.com or http://www.gamespot.com

I believe the new installment will be coming to both the PS3 and Xbox360.

I still reckon they should do a remake of the first installment, I've still got the original PSX copy and love it to death. The others were good, I love 2 and 3, but "The Room" didn't do much for me, I found it to short and when I passed it the first time I got the best ranking and the best ending. I guess the makers had to make the game alilttle easier since the new installment was for the world audience and not just Japan and Silent Hill fanboys around the world.

...and yes, Prey is weird. I got upto the final boss and I have no idea how to beat her. I stood there for about an hour trying to figure out what to do, and in the end I just quit the game and deleted it off my PC. :P

THE BEST RACING GAME EVER :D
I played it on the Xbox360 last week. Pretty fun.

I hired some games this week. Got Conan, Flatout: Ultimate Carnage and Skate.

First up Conan:
Story was boring, controls are stiff and are annoying at some points, camera angles are shocking and you can never see whats coming from behind or in front of you in closed in levels. Aside from all that its a fun hack n' slash in the vain of God of War, plenty of violence and gore and heaps of combos and moves to unlock through out the game.

Skate:
One of the best skating games I've played in quite sometime. Its fun to do trick because you get to use the analog stick to pull off moves. Graphics are amazing, levels are extremely massive and seem to go on forever...there not really levels, its just one massive city. Good use of options, plenty of online features which include making movies to share with others and taking photos of your tricks. This wouldn't really be suited to everyone, but if you like a good challenge then get it.

Flatout 2: Ultimate Carnage
Like the original, but with bigger and better everything. Better graphics, more options, more online features. Good pedal to the metal sort of game, will go well with pumping heavy metal music whilst driving. :P

I also found this.

Its the gameplay from Silent Hill 5. Seems the Japanese Konami team isn't doing the series anymore. Its a shame really cos they did an extremely great job on the franshice. Lets hope this new American/British team can do justice to the game.

Its still early days, but its looks pretty borderline to me. I still hope Konami release the revamped version of Silent Hill. That was awesome.
