Saw the newest Jackass film last night. It provided lulz. Classic Jackass, but also surprisingly heartfelt in a way.

Yes, they're awful/campy, but they're by far my favorite of the 80s horror flicks outside of The Evil Dead series.

Dude, perhaps unsurprisingly, I have an encyclopaediac knowledge of 80's slasher movies to go with my NWOBHM fetish.

Getting old kinda sucks and yet is very cool at the same time.

True Grit, well, yes, but. The mix of "lot of guys dying" and "some lighter sentences/situations" in between is pretty difficult to nail perfectly, or at least my tolerance threshold is pretty low in this situation.
I thought the development had an awkward pace. It takes a while for the movie to really "start" (I'm not saying it was boring, but as long as they haven't started their journey, it feels like the intro), then they haven't been gone for so long (or it doesn't feels like it) that it's already the final confrontation (same happened to me with the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, I expected some kind of chase between the two ships, yet when they reached the island and I realised it was pretty much the end I was like "what ? it feels like it's just 10 miles away from the harbour?!").
The whole thing works better with an unemployed hippie drinking white russian playing bowling with his vietnam-traumatized buddy, than with a 15y.o. girl looking stronger than most bounty hunters, IMO (bear in mind though that I'm a blasé who hasn't really appreciate anything of late)
Still a nice viewing though, and the acting was pretty good, Jeff Bridges' badass.

Billy, I think I was born in the wrong decade.

Back to the Future 1-3

all awesome. I guess everyone knows these and they've probably been part of everyone's childhood. Watched them on Blu-Ray and Universal did an amazing job transfering the movies to HD.

The Godfather 1 and 2
very awesome movies too. The first Godfather movie is a real masterpiece and I guess everyone has seen that one once, twice or 1387854 times too. The second one is not as great but still very, very good. I'll try to watch the 3rd one this evening to finish off the trilogy. And again I have to say the HD transfer has been done amazingly well. There's still plenty of film grain and obviously it does not look as awesome as new movies shot in HD but still it is quite an experience to watch these movies in such good quality. The restoration was absolutely worth it.

Predators
it was OK. No where near as awesome as the first Predator movie but it was not bad. I must admit I was bored quite a few times but when there was action, it was enjoyable. Laurence Fishburne's role in this movie was pretty lame which is a shame because I think he's a great actor. Adrien Brody was better than I expected. Wasn't sure if he could play an action hero but seems like he can. But that kid from that 70's TV show was annoying!

Black Swan Ok, as much as I liked to see Mila Kunis go down on Natalie Portman, this really wasn't my cup of tea. What else...nah, that's it. My wife made me to watch it...

Man, words cannot describe my feelings about this film. It is a testament to Pixar's diligence for scrapping an idea entirely and making this masterpiece.

Watched In The Name of the Father last night. Mesmerising performance from Daniel Day-Lewis. Still probably my favourite movie that he's been in and the final ten or so minutes is one of the most powerful scenes in any movie I've ever scene. Fantastic stuff and if you haven't seen it you definitely should.
