Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

Bethesda (I know it's not the same devs but something needs to be said) needs to hire someone who knows what the fuck they're doing when it comes to quality control. Their creative people are geniuses, and they did a great thing by hiring Obsidian to work on New Vegas, but the fact remains they as publishers let faulty product come out continuously, and frankly it's just about worn out welcome with my wallet. Did not, and probably will not buy New Vegas after seeing what my friend Nick has been going through with it.

and considering how much they fucked up when they made Alpha Protocol, Obsidian would best be advised to fix a lot of the bugs in New Vegas quickly because another faulty product ain't good for their reputation. And considering what a turd Rogue Warrior was, Bethesda as a publisher should do what's necessary as well for their own sake.

I read they're already working on a patch. But I'll probably do the same as you and wait for the GotY edition.

In the meantime I found Assassin's Creed 2 for less than 14 pounds so I may just get that one. :D

I think the issue might come from their game or physics engine, which is quite old i hear.
And it wouldnt hurt to get a graphical update in Fallout.... New Vegas looks alot like the wasteland in Fallout 3.

the next eldar scrolls game which is still a couple years off will have a new engine, so maybe that's for the best.

There's no excuse for issues that are blantantly obvious and happen pretty much every time, but getting a game like Fallout 3 bug free is almost impossible. The game is so complex, that it's very hard to guarantee that it's bug free, even with lots of testing.

It's almost guaranteed that a percentage of users will run into issues that just weren't found in testing. That's just what happens when you get millions of eyes on a complex sandbox game.

To give a totally contrived example. Imagine a sandbox game that has 30 missions, which can be completed at any time, and in any order. How do you guarantee that there isn't any order that the player can complete those missions in, that will cause the game to break? If your answer is to test all combinations, bear in mind that for 30 different missions, there are 30! (30 factorial, i.e. 30 * 29 * 28 * 27 ... * 2 * 1) different orders to test, so be prepared to budget for a development cycle in the millions/billions of years. :)

As I say, contrived example, but it can kind of show you why it's hard to get perfect test coverage on a sandbox game. You just can't test absolutely everything, the best you can hope for is testing "enough" that you can be reasonably sure that encountering a game-breaking bug is relatively infrequent.

I dont know, i'm playing Red Dead Redemption, a game that would fit the same sandbox style game of Fallout, and there are no such glaring bugs.

Also it would be easier to forget the bugs in Fallout New Vegas, if Fallout 3 didnt suffer from similar bugs.

Really? Judging by the amount of clips with hilarious glitches I've seen it was particularly glitchy game upon release. And I'm not even in target group.

(I'm buying teh New Vegas as soon as stores stop insulting me with their idiotic pricing)

I had no issues with Red Dead Redemption. It's been one of the most pleasant video game experiences because everything worked so smoothly.

And I understand that in a huge game like Fallout there will likely be bugs...but sounds like the ones in NV are very, very massive ones and very obvious ones too that the testers should have come across easily.

Apparently the patch for New Vegas came out Friday, for those unaware. I got prompted upon load-up to update, so hopefully it has fixed the problems with it (didn't get a chance to play around long enough to notice if there was an improvement or not). My main gripe with it is the damn loading times and the occasional freezing of the game. This was happening with the game installed to my hard drive, which is sad. I'm really disappointed that the same type of bugs that were prevalent in Fallout 3 are now cropping up in New Vegas. Bethesda (or Obsidian, whoever you want to point the finger at) really should have fixed this given how successful Fallout 3 was along with the hype surrounding New Vegas. This is absolutely unacceptable!

The original GTA and GTA 2 can be downloaded from the Rockstar site (rockstargames.com/classics), and they have the soundtracks included.

Oh, and through Lauri's video I came across this which I thought was pretty cool:

awesome...I got banned from Xbox live untill tomorrow  The reason is awesome too...because of my motto which is 'N@zi Punks F*** off'. So let's see....when I play Call of Duty online people call me a Nazi just because I'm German and nothing's ever done about that. Yet, speaking out against Nazis gets me banned? Awesome...this is the second time in 2 months that I'm having problems with Xbox Live for no reason, yet their shit service costs me money and I'm starting to get pissed. :chain:

To be fair, when you say that someone said something to you over voice chat, it's your word against theirs, since there's no way to prove whether they said it or not. (Since they almost certainly have no way of monitoring voice chat)
Whereas with anything said in text, or in a profile, the evidence is right there.
