One of my friend has been playing Mass Effect 2 ever since it got released, and he has completed about 6 playthroughs in ME1 and ME2. Awesome game, but I have not such dedication.
I have a played a bunch of Dc universe online, and at level 16 I can already feel the game dying on me, lack of content is omnipresent, as all quest are so similar and your toon has only combat abilities.

Started a bit of Just Cause 2 also, and it's a fun mindless game.

when ME2 was released I think I didn't leave the house for 2 or 3 days  I hope ME3 will top ME1 and ME2. I think brininging the best elements of both games together would be amazing. ME2 with more customisation options and more RPG elements...and without planet scanning. Bring back the Mako and allow players to explore planets again while the exploration has to be more rewarding than it was in ME1....all that would make me one happy camper. Just don't force a freaking multiplayer mode into the game!!!

Currently playing the first STALKER, a bit of Champions Online (now that it is free-to-play), and an indie-developed game called Solium Infernum. If you like tabletop games or strategy games in general you'll really like Solium Infernum. http://www.crypticcomet.com/games/SI/So ... ernum.html

Also, any idea when the rest of Ziltoid will be available on Rock Band? I see that ZTO came out very recently.

Thanks for the welcome back. :D

My initial impressions of ME2 are that the level design is infinitely better - I found the repetition of buildings in ME1 a little uninspiring after a while. Love the new characters so far (still recruiting) and everything looks lovely and shiny (aside from everyone's teeth... wtf?). Combat is great too. Oh, and planet scanning is a horrid chore - surely testing would have told them that pretty early on?

I miss the Mako and some of the customisation/RPG elements of the first game. I can do without constantly having to manage a stockpile of relatively similar weapons, but I AM a sucker for loot, so as you say, perhaps a balance of the two would be better. The loot system in Dragon Age worked fine for me, for example.

Can't wait to dig deeper into ME2!

I agree...the loot in ME1 was a bit too much. You're constantly busy getting rid of most of the stuff you found, hehe. When it comes to weapons neither ME1 nor ME2 got it really right. ME1 had too many weapons and too many upgrades that you constantly found and constantly had to get rid of again. ME2's weapons system was a bit too simple though with too few weapons choices. I hope Bioware can find a good compromise when it comes to the weapon system in ME3. Increase the amount of weapons in ME3 without going overboard the way they did in ME1 and allow players to customize the weapons the way they want to customize them. Same goes for the suits.

anyways...I just beat Black Ops on Veteran. Next up: Dead Space 2!

I'm sure this has been talked about before, especially because it's been in development forever...

But holy crap, I don't think anyone will be hearing from me from a long, long time after Deus Ex: Human Revolution comes out.
Augmented Edition looks awesome. Little skeptical about losing the creative directors of the first two, but the trailers look great and with Square Enix involved, can't go wrong really.

Just sayin ;)

That said, Deus Ex looks like it'll be amazing.

started to play Dead Space 2. I am in chapter 5 so far so I can't really judge the game based on that yet but so far there have been surprisingly few surprises, puzzles or anything else other than walking through corridors and killing necromorphs, heh.

I guess they might have went with the broader appeal in Dead Space 2, they often do with sequels.

well, considering that the game is on 2 discs (at least on the ole 360...I wish Microsoft quit being such a bunch of bitches and just accept that Blu-Ray is the new thing) I would hope that there will be a bit more going on than just walking and shooting :P

Haven't posted in awhile, so forgive if I'm wildly off-topic.

I just picked up Vanquish, Fallout 3, and Mass Effect 2 for around $30 total from Amazon. I'm really excited about Vanquish, because it is so over-the-top ridiculous, and the story is bad on purpose (as opposed to Other M, where the story was just infuriatingly stupid). Anyone played it? I haven't started any of the three and was curious for some opinions on them (more detailed than "this game ROCKS!"), so I came to you guys.

Vanquish is AWESOME! I got it late last year and it ended up on my best of 2010 list. It's kind of like a 3D version of the old Contra games...or even more precisely it's like the European versions of Contra called 'Probotector' (they replaces the soldiers with robots for us Euro folks). Completely over the top indeed but sooooo much fun. The game actually gets better the higher the difficulty is you play on. It's a bit on the short side but that does not harm the game at all. I don't think the human brain would be able to take 20 hours of Vanquish anyways, hehe. So yeah, you picked up a great one. :!:

oh and I'm a total Mass Effect whore so I'm VERY biased when it comes to that. But Mass Effect 2 is an incredible game that should not be missed. If you read some of the past few messages posted in this thread then there's plenty of ME talk :D

Fallout 3 is an amazing game too. You gotta know though that it will take quite a while to get through it. It can take you 50 to 80 hours to just get through the main game with all its side quests and if you picked up the game of the year edition then it will take even longer due to the add-ons. But if you are ready to invest that time into the game then it'll totally consume you. One of the best RPG's ever.

in other news...check this out and giggle:

this game actually exists and was made by Epic/EA to take a piss on Call of Duty
