Why thank you. She and Jack/Samara are permanant members of my squad. Tali = <3

Morten, go home. Get your Xbox and carry on.

Of the DLC's- Shadow Broker/Project Overlord are both great, the latter with a good jaunt into VR, to kill a rogue VI...Or is it?
Seriously Morten, get it done. Just don't spend 3 weeks inside playing it over and over like I did. But play Mass Effect 1 first, it's worth importing Shepard for the snippets of extra content. Especially the Liara bits

I just picked up Vanquish, Fallout 3, and Mass Effect 2 for around $30 total from Amazon. I'm really excited about Vanquish, because it is so over-the-top ridiculous, and the story is bad on purpose (as opposed to Other M, where the story was just infuriatingly stupid). Anyone played it? I haven't started any of the three and was curious for some opinions on them (more detailed than "this game ROCKS!"), so I came to you guys.

Vanquish is AWESOME! I got it late last year and it ended up on my best of 2010 list. It's kind of like a 3D version of the old Contra games...or even more precisely it's like the European versions of Contra called 'Probotector' (they replaces the soldiers with robots for us Euro folks). Completely over the top indeed but sooooo much fun. The game actually gets better the higher the difficulty is you play on. It's a bit on the short side but that does not harm the game at all. I don't think the human brain would be able to take 20 hours of Vanquish anyways, hehe. So yeah, you picked up a great one. :!:

oh and I'm a total Mass Effect whore so I'm VERY biased when it comes to that. But Mass Effect 2 is an incredible game that should not be missed. If you read some of the past few messages posted in this thread then there's plenty of ME talk :D

Fallout 3 is an amazing game too. You gotta know though that it will take quite a while to get through it. It can take you 50 to 80 hours to just get through the main game with all its side quests and if you picked up the game of the year edition then it will take even longer due to the add-ons. But if you are ready to invest that time into the game then it'll totally consume you. One of the best RPG's ever.

in other news...check this out and giggle:

VIDJEO

this game actually exists and was made by Epic/EA to take a piss on Call of Duty

Glad to hear Vanquish is awesome! I played the demo and was thinking "this is okay," and the boss fight was so ridiculous that my opinion skyrocketed. Also, I'm a sucker for the scored shooter (MGS, etc.). And robots!

My roommate is a big Mass Effect fan, so he recommended I give it a shot. The demo kind of disappointed me in how silly and overplayed the "OMG WE'RE IN FUCKING SPACE AND IT'S THE FUTURE AND SHIT" factor was. That said, there's plenty to like about it, so I'm anxious to play through it.

As for Fallout 3, I've had like 5 people tell me it is unbelievably awesome, so I'm prepared for it to rock my shit. And for it to take 80 hours for one play through.

Duty Calls looks quite excellent! Speaking of CoD, though--I played through Black Ops at a friend's house last year and found the campaign to be a lot more fun than I usually find CoD. I don't know what gives--maybe they spent a bit more time on the story (even though they still landed on the "'merica, fuck yeah" theme). The gameplay was a lot more seamless. And you didn't have to break any dog necks, if I recall correctly.

Spoiler alert:

 yeah the ending of Black Ops actually made me giggle with all the ships and flags all of a sudden just being there and everyone's all 'fuck yeah' like nothing happened and as if there was no fighting and explosions at all during the previous few minutes...very bizarre! For a moment I wasn't sure if they were serious about that or if that was some sort of ironic ending. But I agree. Black Ops has the best story and single player campaign of all COD's so far, in my opinion.

Yeah I have same problem with first Dead Space. I've played only 6/12 levels but there haven't been any puzzles or anything like in Resident Evil. Only killing so far..maybe I supposed very wrongly at first sight. :chain:

well, the "puzzles" in Dead Space 1 weren't really hard and there were not many of them but at least there were some! (If you even wanna call them puzzles) Heh. And I think the game got more diverse in the second half. And remember, it could be worse. Just remember Resident Evil 5. There was really just 1 puzzle in that game. That pretty lame mirror puzzle.

Good decision. Compared to the older games (Especially 4) it's just poor in comparison.

Ah I liked Resident Evil 5, it was not as good as RE4. but it was decent. Though I have to say, me and one of friend, bought it when it came out, we played split-screen coop, and completed it the same day, so that was a pretty cool, but I must admit I have not played it much since.

yeah...the problem with Resident Evil 5 is that it just isn't really a Resident Evil game anymore. It's more like Gears of War with the creatures from Resident Evil 4 and a few of the well known characters, heh. It is fun and I enjoyed it too. But anyone who is a Resi-fan and thinks about getting it should know that there's 0% horror in this game and only 1 silly puzzle. And there's not much darkness in this one either. It's set in Africa and it's usually sunny.

The good thing is that I heard that Resident Evil 5 is supposed to be the last of its kind. So maybe Capcom will lead the series back to its roots again. There's not much going on anymore in the survival horror genre so a new great Resident Evil game with creepy atmosphere would be awesome!

speaking of survival horror. Dead Space 2 has improved greatly once I made it to disc 2. Lots more variety, pretty cool puzzles, awesome zero gravity stuff. Really digging it. I'm in chapter 13 now and I think by now I can tell that there's a serious lack of boss battles, which is a bit of a shame, but it's also my only big complaint.

Can't really do that though, cause splitting your market by adding peripherals like that has been proven to be a bad thing (with Sega and the Mega-CD & 32-X).

I'm sure the next generation of Xbox consoles will have it though

When they get released, that is. They reckon the Kinect has added five years of life to the console, so we may not see anything new for a while.

exactly. So far there is not supposed to be a new Xbox untill 2015. Since games get bigger and bigger we'll soon play games on 4 or 5 discs on the 360  FF13 already was spread across 3 discs, wasn't it?

finished Dead Space 2...twice actually...and am loving it. Yeah, the lack of boss fights is a bit on the meh-side and you don't really feel as alone and isolated as in the first one but the visuals, (easy but) fun puzzles , atmosphere and the awesome zero gravity parts of the game just make more than up for it. Fun stuff. Got all but 2 achievos. The only two missing are the zealot and hardcore difficulty achievements but I'm not going to try to beat the game on hardcore. I like a nice challenge but in hardcore mode you can only save your progress 3 times throughout the entire game which can cause an incredible amount of frustration. If I played for 3 or 4 hours in a row and then accidently died or the game froze up on me before saving my progress then I'd be incredibly pissed, heh. Might try to tackle the game on zealot difficulty though.

Good choice! Penumbra: Requiem is skippable, though.

BTW, were there any swearwords in Mass Effect? I don't remember any in original language version - found the clips from the Polish translation now and Wrex swears like an absolute chav there. Maybe I missed some important switch in options.
