I wish chicks would stalk me.

Trust me, you don't.

Why? I could take advantage of them.

Aren't you the one who has moral qualms about indulging in booze and hookers because you have a girlfriend?

Have you never seen Fatal Attraction?

Was having a midnight snack, and my beard was tickling. I gave it a mild scratch, pulled my hand away, and there was a spider on my fingers - a fucking whitetail at that.
Spat out some of my food in surprise and crushed the bastard with my shoe. At least it didn't bite.

Stupid-ass town I live in. The local businesses give out candy for Halloween, which is cool. This year, since Halloween was on a Sunday and most businesses here are closed Sundays, they decided to do the downtown trick or treating on Saturday. Hey, not a bad idea. Except...

The majority of residents in town decided that since the downtown did their Trick or Treat thing on Saturday, they didn't have to hand out candy on Halloween. WTF??? Halloween is Oct. 31st, people. Been that way for several hundred years in some parts of the world. So, fuck you, I say!

Needless to say, my kid put on his costume last night, the actual Halloween, and we went out trick or treating. Fortunately, there were several homes in the neighborhood who were still giving out candy, but it was fucked up to see some of that candy being handed out by kids who should have been trick or treating. The streets were nearly dead, and we only saw 3 other trick or treaters out last night. On Halloween night.

This town sucks. It is full of backward, ignorant assholes who put their kids dead last on their priorities list. I need to get the hell out of here.

My daughter made a little book of Halloween over half-term - wrote it on the computer, all about what we do at Halloween and what she likes about it. Printed it off, stapled it together, drew illustrations of bats and candy and monsters and stuff. Proudly took it to school this morning to show her teacher.
Teacher took me aside this afternoon and frostily informed me that this sort of thing was not accpetable. It is a Church of England school and there is no place for Halloween.
My jaw dropped. Suddenly Home Ed seems such a good idea again.
I will be watching with interest if they do Santa Claus, Easter Eggs and evolution.

You could point out that the Christian church did kind of adopted it as All Saints Day a long time ago? Okay so it's more of a Celtic festival but then so are Christmas and Easter.

I was somewhat puzzled that they had a harvest festival under those circumstances.

I have thought up a million snappy comebacks since but TBH at the time I was just shocked into silence. It is the first time any religion issue has arisen at all at the school - they don't do prayer or anything. Otherwise the whole thing has been a really good experience. I am quite troubled by the incident really. I don't want to blow it out of proportion but at the same time find it really fucking wrong. and weird. Is it the thin end of the wedge? What if she does her next project on dinosaurs?

We'll just have to hope she doesn't burn in hell, with the dinosaurs. :P But yeah, seriously. It's sad.

Scientific fact: brontosaurs had long necks to stick their heads above hell's flames*)

Nice we didn't adopt the halloween yet. Just another sad day. I feel like most national holidays here commemorate war, death, distasters, failures and war.

*) may be less than scientific
