Took me couple of video driver upgrades and switching to the second soundcard to make it work properly - buying games before the patches are out sucks, huh. But it looks stunning, voice acting is great (well in original version at least) and story seems to be as uncomfortable as the first one. It's also brutal from the very beginning - do a quick research on potions and signs before starting, because game's shitty at tutoring :> First game in a long time that really benefits from browsing the manual.

I agree. I played the first game but that was ages ago... the game chucks you in the deep end and you're immediately fighting mobs of sword wielding bastards!

No issues for me in getting it running.

Looks great and it's been fun so far. Just wish I had more time to play it!!!

finally finished Heavy Rain after owning it for over a year :? Anyways, I loved it. I actually want to play through it again in its entirety, knowing what I know now. Replayed a few chapters already for fun (and a few trophies :P ) and it's really awesome how you can shape the story in this game just by altering a few decisions. And it took me longer than I thought to get through the game but I guess that also depends on your decisions. Aside from the not so great controls (mainly movement), the often hardly readable choice options and a few sound glitches I'd say this game is pretty fucking brillant actually!

Heavy Rain is so appealing to me...but I don't have a PS3. It's the hugest shame when they make PS3/PC exclusives that I want because it never justifies the cost of getting a new console. That being said, if they made a mega playstation that played titles from ps1, ps2, ps3 (didn't the first batch or so of ps3's do that?) then I'd definitely consider it because across the sony platforms there's a lot of games I want to play. My computer is ancient and won't run anything good so that doesn't help... Just rechecked the list of titles coming out this year though and holy hell it's gonna be an expensive year of gaming for me. :P

yeah, the original 60 GB PS3's played PS1 and PS2 games. PS3's nowadays only play PS1 games. I read at some point that Sony hired Sega to develop a software internal PS2 emulator for the PS3....never happened. Then I read that Sony wanted to release a disc drive that you can hook up to your PS3 which would play all PS2 games. Never happened either. Guess they decided it's more profitable to just re-release PS2 games in HD on Blu-Ray discs.

speaking of that...they'll do the same thing to PSP games now, heh. Here's hoping for all sorts of Metal Gear Solid HD re-releases!!!

NOT ME!!!
:P

I got brave and played it. Played all day last saturday without a hitch, got up on Sunday to play more and after 2 hours it froze on me. In a weird way too - like, I was doin' a car chase and some dude crashed into me but I couldn't reverse or go forward or do anything...yet the game was still moving, so to speak.

Then of course I failed the mission, but it wouldn't let me continue because it'd fully frozen at that point, couldn't even push the PS button, had to hard reset.

I left it alone for a few days and played some more Dragon Age, but got back into it last night and it seeeeeeeeemed ok, even if during a loading screen it sounded like my PS3 was trying to give birth.

hmmm...that sounds half encouraging and still half scary! I guess Mark will give in too. As soon as I know how it worked for him I might give it a try too. And if my PS3 dies then I guess I won't be playing any PS3 games and won't be watching any Blu-Rays for a while! I treated my PS3 extremely well. Didn't really use it for games much, mostly watched movies. When I don't use my PS3 and it's turned off I cover it with a plastic sheet to keep dust away from it but do vacuum the back of it despite that. So it should be in good shape. But L.A. Noire might change that!

I am struggling not to crack, and I'm not flying out for holidays for another week and a half. As soon as I try it, I'll be on here post-haste to let you know how angry or happy I am. :D

mine is still on the way (I guess or hope). Guess it is taking a bit longer than usual to get here from the UK this time. Guess if the ole PS3 breaks it would be the perfect reason to get a fancy PS3 slim. Unfortunately they are not real cheap! :P

oh and I have enjoyed Heavy Rain for a few more days. Replayed all sorts of chapters. I will admit I kind of thought that I won't have any desire to play the game anymore once I played through it for the first time. I'm glad I was wrong. I think there's plenty of replay value!

(oh and my PS3 worked wonderfully playing Heavy Rain so if I actually grow some balls and try L.A. Noire and my PS3 dies then I know the reason. I don't believe in coincidences like that  )

Finished MW2 yesterday, finishing GoW2 today. Xbox is currently resting. Got nothing better to do; I can't breathe and my head's full of cheese.
