this, basically. So I guess I'll have to watch it! :D

I have also seen the new Muppets movie, and I agree completely with Ephel. Not only will you cry tears of nostalgia, but I can say without a doubt that it's one of the best non-animated family movies in a very long time.

Fido. Canadian guy at work lent me his copy. Very funny and even touching, and Billy Connolly plays a great zombie. Carrie-Anne Moss nails the 50's era mother role. One of the more uplifting zombie films I've seen.

I watched a flick called Forever Strong today. Really cool little movie about high-shool rugby.

I don't know squat aboot rugby, but that didn't matter. Probably didn't hurt that it was filmed

15 minutes from my house, so I recognized the scenery, too.

It's a feel-good movie, so there is a bit of cheese, but overall really enjoyable. :)

Breaking Dawn. Decided to go with a bunch of friends and get really really drunk before hand. That's definitely the only way I can recommend seeing it, even though I guess copious amounts of drugs would have the same effect too. Even then though it was a shit fest beyond shit fests. I watched vampire/human inter species sex for two hours mixed in with people aimlessly talking and getting vampire pregnant. And Kristin Stewart must have some fecal matter permenantly stuck up her nose. That'd explain the constant stink face in any and all situations.

such a good movie. It's like Lassie with a zombie instead of a dog.

I recently watched

Night of the Creeps

this was my first horror movie ever. Saw it when I was a little shit and it scared the crap out of me (although it really isn't scary at all, heh). But ever since then I just had to watch more and more horror flicks. It's a real 80's gem and an hommage to 80's horror and sci-fi flicks. It's pretty darn unknown still unfortunately as it didn't get a proper DVD release before 2009 when it finally made it onto DVD and Blu-ray. If you love 80's horror and splatter flicks then you HAVE to see this one. That's right. You HAVE to. Otherwise you're a cunt. Yup. A cunt.

edit: Aaaah, interesting. So that nasty term turns to Bieber on here now. My fellow mod knows his/her German :D

Also watched The Dark Crystal. Twice. Such an awesome movie still. Seen it so many times when I was a kid and it just never gets old.

Went on a Gosling kick, fueled by my love for the movie "Drive".

Crazy, Stupid, Love - 7/10. For what it is, it's really good. I laughed quite a bit as well. There's multiple storylines unraveling as the film progresses. The one involving the children is my least favorite and the only one I don't care for. Gosling and Carrell have great on-screen chemistry.

Half Nelson - 10/10. A junior high school history teacher and girl's basketball team coach struggles with drug addiction and general unhappiness stemming from, in part, a fairly negative world view. Gosling's acting is pitch-perfect. Forrest Whittaker won the Academy Award for best actor that year and I think it should have gone to Gosling instead.

Lars and the Real Girl - 7/10. Pretty funny, but not in a laugh-out-loud way. About a guy that buys an 'anatomically correct' life-sized doll and parades it around as his girlfriend, oblivious to the fact that she's a doll. Gosling is, again, the highlight of the film. He really makes you believe that he's in a relationship with a doll.

The Believer - 9/10. Similar to American History X. It's about a jew that becomes an anti-semite. Less shocking than AHX but it explores the themes more deeply. I don't know which movie I prefer. Even the performances are similarly amazing.

Martha Marcy Mae Marlene - 8/10. No Ryan in this one... But holy crap can the "other" Olson can act! The back story isn't as fleshed out as I'd like and because of that, I found myself a little confused as to what I was supposed to be thinking at the end. It's a good watch, though. Come to think of it, the director probably wanted me to be confused at the end.

Barton Fink...very surreal and very good. Loved it. John Goodman is da man! It's one of those movies that leaves you puzzled after you finished watching it for the first time so you wanna watch it again and try to understand it better, heh.

The Ghost Writer. Curious little political intrigue/thriller/mystery piece. Really did have me guessing as to where it was going for quite a while. Paid a dollar for it as a rental and that's all I'll ever pay for a Polanski film, given his unwillingness to face up to his nasty deeds. But he's clearly a pretty decent filmmaker, which I'm prepared to admit. Oh yeah... Whoever convinced Kim Cattrall that she could do an English accent has a wicked sense of humor.
