I kind of figured. And the nintendo games they showed weren't really impressive. Aside from the Zelda HD tech demo but that looked more like a video than anything else, heh

Also doubt they will have any franchises that will sell me on it. What I've seen of Skyward Sword DOES look good, and is probably the only thing in Nintendo's corner right now, in my opinion.

Lack of Deus Ex/Skyrim/Dead Island makes it easy to forget about the WiiU.

My son was showing me the trailer for Skyrim the other day. Looks nice.

Quick thoughts Post-E3:

- I am more hyped about Bioshock Infinite than any of the new hardware even though Levine's presentation was super brief.
- Twisted Metal looks fan-fucking-tastic. One problem though is that I don't have a PSTriple so I doubt i'll get to play it at launch. Either way, it's good to see the series back in action after all these years.
- I hope WiiU finally becomes an actual contender for the interests of the "hardcore". They have the technology, they just need actual developer support now.
- Vita? Isn't that the name of some hot sauce? Whatever, I think that'll be a fun little thing to use and the games announced and implied sound solid enough.
- Microsoft...Uh, wait. They actually had a conference this year? You sure? I could of sworn it was a 3 hour ad for Kinect.
- MW3 looks decent, but I doubt i'll be getting for reasons that don't involve the internal politickings of Kotick and Co, and the blatant, tasteless fanboyism of that other shooter. The game does look nice though and I am sure it will play well too.
- Rockstar being a no show this year? Surely you jest!

this basically. This whole Kinect development is kind of annoying. They are trying sooooo hard to get casual gamers on board. I mean a Kinect Fable game??? That doesn't make any sense...not even slightly! I'm just glad that the rumors about a Kinect Gears of War game turned out to be not true. And the Kinect functionality in Mass Effect 3 is ridiculous. Look at Tom Clancy's Endwar. Had the same functions and you only needed your headset. Anything to sell Kinect I guess.

Speaking of Kinect. I had the chance to try it for the first time last weekend and after about 1 hour I came to the conclusion that it's something that I won't EVER need.

Anywhoo. Thanks to the Playstation Store's welcome back package I got me a few games for free! Downloaded Dead Nation, Stardust HD And Hustle Kings. (Yup, using 2 different accounts, heh). Also bought the Rockstar Pass for L.A Noire and since I still had 13 Euros left after that, I bought Beyond Good &Evil HD (for only 8 Euros thanks to the PS+ trial) and the Heavy Rain soundtrack. 8) Too bad I only got a 40 GB harddrive in my PS3 though, it's starting to get pretty damn filled up! I'd like to get Outland soon as well. Looks pretty neat and since it's a side scrolling jump 'n run type of game it might be more comfortable to play it with the PS3 controller. I just hope the file ain't too damn huge!

finished LA Noire and all downloadable cases for it. The game did not even freeze once on me and ran wonderfully. Guess it was just the typical pile of hysteria again and I stepped right into it, heh. Anyways. The game was fun, it does get a bit repetitive but the atmosphere and story are really cool and I'm looking forward to the 2 downloadable cases that are yet to come. Naked City was a downloadable case but it was actually one of the most enjoyable cases of the game. So hopefully the 2 upcoming ones will be just as good!

Gonna have to get tucked into all the E3 coverage I missed later on tonight... There was a few showcases I wanted to see.

Also, the "Wii U" has to be one of the most hideous names for any device, ever. It's so fucking bad...

Ugh, I know. But then again, people said the same thing about the Wii itself when it was first announced...now it's a household name, like Nintendo intended. Still, it's ridiculous. I thought they were joking when I watched the presentation.

will be interesting to see how powerful the Wii U's (yes, hate that name too) hardware will be. Some developers say it's about the same as the PS3 and Xbox 360, others say it has 50% more power than current gen consoles. There seems to be a lot of confusion in that regard and Nintendo would be wise to clear that up.
What really kills it for me so far is that you can only use one of these new touch screen controller thingies with the Wii U. That is basically the death of local co-op. Somehow I think that the Wii U is one of those 'too little, too late' cases. It should have been released a year or two ago. Sony and MS will release their next gen consoles in a few years with much more power than the Wii U will have to offer and Nintendo will have an outdated console on the market once again with bad ports and the same kind of disadvantages that the Wii has.

in other news: I played through Resident Evil 1 on the DS, the classic version. It's basically a 1:1 port of the old PS1 classic and it was soooo much fun to play through it again after so many years. Took me less than 5 hours because I still pretty much remembered how everything worked. A true nostalgia moment for me. I remember ordering RE1 when it was released back in '96 and it totally changed the world of video games for me. I even bought the Director's cut of RE1 a year later (and still have it)...oh man...good times.

Absolutely. I feel like the Wii U is 30% intelligent, well thought out, innovative ideas, and 70% bad timing and crappy hardware. I'd say the touch controllers probably aren't being sold separately because of the price, which in some ways makes sense considering xbox/ps3 wireless controllers are about $80 and wiimotes around $60, people probably wouldn't bother. But on the other hand, accessories like the xbox wireless dongle thingy and the wii balance board are around $150...

I don't know...maybe Nintendo have assessed their business strategy and found it beneficial to release things earlier than the competition and be ahead for awhile, rather than having something better in the long run...it sounds stupid, but who knows. They seem to have always done it that way...look at the gamecube, you'd think if that weren't a constant reminder of why that's a bad idea, I don't know what is.

Speaking of that wireless xbox dongle thingy: I bought one a year ago and I'm pretty sure it makes my xbox crash at random times, maybe because it briefly loses connection or whatever and then gets confused and decides to not work anymore. All I ever do nowadays is play offline, so not even my achievements are synched with what it says online. I only occasionally connect it when I start playing a new game for any updates that might be useful.

Not that it matters since I don't have Xbox Gold, or any Xbox friends who'd keep track of them, but still something is not working the way it should be while I paid a fair amount of money for the dongle. Didn't have problems when it was connected via LAN, don't have problems when disconnected entirely, only when the dongle is connected and active. Lame.

In other news, I finished Assassin's Creed. I had AC:2 first, and after finishing that I wanted to see what happened before, hence the wrong order of playing these games. Probably going to be looking for AC: Sisterhood in the near future, because I do prefer the Italian setting (gee, can't think why). Right after I'm fed up with Burnout Paradise and BioShock.

Watched a fair bit of the E3 footage up on YouTube. The new AssCreed looks awesome, as did Uncharted 3 and Arkham City. Pre-ordered all those today. :D Looking forward to the Ico & Shadow of the Colossus double pack in September as well... should tide me over nicely while I'm waiting for the Last Guardian. I'll definitely invest in Skyrim at some point as well, possibly not on the release date cos I'll probably be broke but maybe for Christmas or something. Just loading the BioShock video now. Never been a fan of the series but I remember that long trailer from last year being un-fackin-beliiiiievable and it appears to have won a load of E3 Awards so I have to have a look anyway. :P

Crysis 2 making my 500 dollar video card purchase seem like not such a bad idea.

played through Killzone 3 and I must say it was a blast. It may be a bit short but it's so much better than Killzone 2. Much better pacing, much more varied gameplay. Some people may not like the fact that there's quite a few on-rails sequences but they are really fun too. The game hardly gives you a moment to breathe. It looks awesome and it plays much better than Killzone 2. I'm actually glad they simplified the controls and gameplay. One of the things I didn't like about Killzone 2 was that aiming was pretty hard because of the super-slow controls. So yeah, Killzone 3...I approve!

I was stupid and got rid of most of my Resident Evil games not long after I originally had them, luckily I have all of them again including an original version of RE2. Not as rare as the original version of Final Fantasy 7 I traded for a copy of King's Field 1 (which is actually more rare xD ) I still collect hard to find PS1 games, though I won't go nuts and buy some of the stupidly over priced ones that are rare.

Almost done with Duke Nukem Forever. It's fun, really not as bad as reviews are making it out to be. Sure some things are "dated", but the modernized weapon system/health system kind of make the game less like classic Duke. I honestly think the reviewers have been holding it up to modern military shooters, since there aren't that many non-military shooters today.

Definitely worth your time if you liked the old Duke games and want another taste of it. Worth 14 years of development? No. Worth your time if you want a non-military FPS game that has some nice funny moments(though immature)? Yes.
