Excellent western. Watched Wolverine on dvd (seen this obviously few times already) and wondered why Xavier was walking... If you have seen X-men: first class, you know that he was paralyzed from waist down when he was young. Oh well, wonders of Marvel universe I guess.

Yes, when it comes to inconsistencies, Marvel is very consistent. lol That's the reason I could never get into the X-Men comics. Everyone of the 15 gajillion mutants went through an origin revamp every other week it seemed. Now the movies are no better.

The Marvel universe now that they got their own production company is different from what Wolverine was under. Hence the Spiderman remake and such.

Sorry, living in San Francisco and having worked as a student in the neighborhood of Harvey Milk's, I have a bit of an over sensitivity for the major hollywood takes on the area I know so well. Still a fine film, just a bit heavy handed, and slightly belittling of the scene around Harvey.

Obviously the Academy figured Danny Boyle put in his time and deserved the nudge. Sucks that it's the way things go, but it's the way things go.

This recognition thing is such a load of shit, but the Academy do it constantly.

Looking back, I would agree with your initial opinion and would have had Wall-E for best picture. The first half in particular is some of the most beautiful cinema I've seen.

Driver. Sigh. I really wanted to like this film, as I enjoyed Bronson and love the cast. That said, however, for all the use of style and for all of the incredible direction and cinematography, it felt to me like auteuristic masturbation. I haven't been left this cold by a film in a long time. The entire thing was emotionally detached, which I get is a stylistic choice, but it just did not work for me. I don't feel like I totally wasted my time, and I will revisit the film for technical and style reasons, but that's it.

A couple days back I watched Cowboys & Aliens, ehhhhh, nah. I'm not a HUGE fan of westerns and this didn't make it any better (I only one or two western (esque) films.), despite the aliens. I found it kind of dull and uninteresting.

Yesterday I went and saw Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, 'tis a very fun movie. The only other M:I film I've seen was the 3rd one but I can't remember the majority of it (it's been awhile), but it's not like you really need to know anything from the previous films to enjoy this one. One of the things I love doing every holiday season (preferably the last couple days leading up to Christmas) is seeing at least one movie in the theater with some peeps, last year was Tron: Legacy, I was satisfied, and this year was M:I and I was very satisfied. Although one major complaint, the CG was not the best, specifically the smoke effects used in an explosion and a scene involving a sandstorm. I think I've seen video games with better explosion effects.

The Shining for probably the 50th time. It's been playing on IFC regularly for a couple months now. It's perfect for this time of year - lots of snow, festive parties in the Gold Room, and a naked chick. 2, actually, if you're counting the second one.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure

I wanted to die.

But then I turned it off. : D

Hellboy director's cut - has deeper storytelling than the theatrical, so I enjoyed it more this time around. I still prefer The Golden Army, but oh well.

Entertaining enough. Has its funny moments, but kinda forgets it's telling a story at some point. Considering the crap that's been on TV this christmas, this was a much better alternative.

Santa's Slay
This has been on my "to-watch"-list for ages and I finally got around to it tonight. What better way to end christmas with a movie featuring Santa on a killing spree, naked strippers and curling? The jokes and one-liners are brilliantly lame, the plot is wafer-thin and the special effects look very cheap... however, out of all christmas-themed movies I've seen this one has been the most enjoyable by far. :D

I happened to see that one on TV 2 nights ago and yeah, it was pretty fucking entertaining indeed! And Goldberg was in it. And he was Santa Clause. Badass. Just badass.

last night I watched

My Name Is Bruce

fucking loved it. Bruce Campbell in all his glory. Despite the low budget and campy effects this movie is perfect because Bruce is in it. And that is all a movie needs.

Did you guys hear that Bruce might play Victor Sullivan in the Uncharted movie? Now how awesome would that be? Yes, it would be very awesome.

Moneyball.

'Bout the baseball team just miles from my favorite baseball team. Well, not just that. It's more about the changing of perceptions on something that's centuries old, just because the way it's always been done doesn't make it correct.

It's not perfect, and panders a little bit, but I thoroughly enjoyed its authenticity to the game, and the reality of the money driven nature about it.

Solid B+, though maybe a B- for those who don't care about the sport at all. It's still worth watching!

and Bobby Kotick really has a cameo in this movie? Couldn't believe it when I first read about it.

oh and I watched 'I Sell The Dead' today. It was quite fun actually, considering that its budget was probably rather small. Seemed like an hommage to old comic books and horror flicks. Not the best horror movie gem ever but certainly better and more original than all the torture porn stuff and the recent flood of ghost movies.
