Much as I hate Kotick, he actually pulls off what he's there to do well. He's perfect as a rich guy who doesn't give money to guys pursuing creative efforts, whether it be revolutionizing baseball or trying something different in videogames.

Predators on BD. I kind of like this, seen it couple times before (including theatre) and it's certainly better than horrid -90 sequel. Nothing beats original though, and I'm not quite sure why Adrien Brody was chosen for lead role for this sequel. Sure, he has most impressive nose but still...

yeah, and Laurence Fishburne was pretty useless in this movie. And I usually love that guy.

I understand Brody, as he does look like he could play a mercenary in any other film, and he does have a leadership quality about him. I just don't really care for the whole Arnie-quote homage at the end. He didn't really ham it up, but they could have given him a different line.
Fishburne was ok IMO, and probably could have used more screentime. Still, he does have one of the best death scenes.

I can't watch any film with Adrien Brody in it. It'll forever be tainted...Or improved, rather.

*cough*
Brodyquest.

Going to see Mission Impossibru 4 tomorrow. I imagine the popcorn will be more interesting, but I may yet be entertained.

I liked that, too. But not as much as Despicable Me.

There are few things in life I like as much as Despicable Me!

Watched that for the first time just last week.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

loved it. The CGI apes look pretty amazing. Andy Serkis did a great job bringing Caesar to life, which makes you really care for Caesar. And James Franco did a good job as usual.

thinking about buying Super 8 which could be a good movie. I just hate Abrams love for lens flare effects. They annoyed the crap out of me in Star Trek already.

Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol

Went in with low expectations so I wasn't disappointed. Not very impressed either. Predictable, formulaic, unbelievable plot. But the action scenes the movie is all about are pretty decent, so it wasn't a total waste of time.

PLENTY of lens flare in Super 8. Still worth a watch though.

And I agree, Despicable Me is a beautiful movie.

ugh. Oh well, I'll have to watch it sooner or later anyways because it does sound good. I just don't get why Abrams puts that much lens flare into this flick after stating that he used too much of it in Star Trek.

Anyways. I just finished watching Batman Returns on Blu-ray and it was awesome as usual. That's one movie that never gets old. I just love Burton's style. Now I do prefer Nolan's Batman movies but I gotta say that I always though Gotham City looked pretty boring in Nolan's movies. I understand that he wanted to take a more realistic approach to the whole Batman thing. But Gotham shouldn't look like your typical L.A. type of city. That's where Burton really got things right. I hope the post-Nolan Batman flicks will have a bit of both worlds. Whoever directs them should play the Arkham games.

As for the Blu-ray of Batman Returns, I was very pleased with the picture quality. The movie is from '92 so it of course does not look like The Dark Knight but Warner did a great job with this movie's HD transfer.

And I think I'll do it...I'll watch Batman & Robin next. Wish me fun, guys! :help:

I just accidentally stumbled upon this thread as I was looking to go to bed. I just watched LotR The Fellowship of the Ring (The special extended edition).

When it came out I was 8 years old, I haven't seen it in cinemas, but I know that I have seen The Two Towers in cinemas, so I must've seen it before that came it. Which makes me either 8 or 9 when I first saw it.
After that I think I saw it twice more. It must've been around 3-6 years ago that I saw it for the last time, I didn't recall a lot of the film.

As I watched this just now, I came to understand why 'everybody' loves these LotR films so much. Everything is handled with such care, etc. I really loved watching it a few minutes ago. It also made me realise that I didn't see any of the beauty that is film when I was younger. I will watch the other two before the end of the year. Also the extended editions. I had to switch DVDs in the middle, that's how extended the editions are.
