Ok, a second viewing of Prometheus indeed left me enjoying the film more.
The character development I still think was a bit flawed (as were certain character twists), and Guy Pearce's old man make up wasn't the best, but otherwise I'd say it was a pretty solid film. And since it was more of a precursor to Alien, rather than a direct link, it makes room for speculation and implications of how the two tales relate, and more stories to tell, and that's a good thing. That's just my opinion.

well, I hope there will be unanswered questions and lots of room for interpretation. It's kinda boring when a filmmaker holds your hand throughout his entire movie and there's not even the slightest bit of mystery left in the flick.
It's really strange how just about everything gets ripped to pieces by raging movie/music/video game fans nowadays. Everything sucks, nothing's good enough, blab blab. They all must have ass burgers. :P

Totally incoherent mess from start to finish.
All the pretty negative reviews on Imdb pretty much sum up my thoughts. Don't go see it if you have a hard time suspending your disbelief...
Kinda contains spoilers, though it's not like you don't see everything coming a mile away...

Let's go to this remote planet where there may be advanced lifeforms, get to know each others 10 minutes before landing, not even bother doing a scan while we're in orbit, wander randomly through valleys until (which means 5 minutes) we find by chance something that's not natural, land just a couple of meters from it while we don't know what it is and if there's life, planetary defenses, whatever, jump out of the spaceship to visit the thing like little kids going to the amusement park, without the least professional scientific rigor or exploration procedures, quickly remove our helmets cuz a little electronic device said the air is breathable, get lost in a place MY OWN laser device scanned into a very detailed 3D hologram and while I'm supposed to be in contact with the spaceship crew who have said hologram just at hand, push on every button like a kid, and so on, and so on, and... so... on... and...

Watching movies as a grown up is pretty shit, in general. I remember watching the latest Terminator movie and not being able to stomach how stupid everything is - civilization of ruthless killing machines consisting most moronic, inefficient evil robots 12 year old could design. Yep, my disbelief hanger is on its last legs lately.

got a bit of a sci-fi marathon going. I recently watched:
Moon
Sunshine
Source Code
Brazil (director's cut)
Metropia
2001: a space odyssey
Close encounters of the third kind
Star Wars episode IV and V
Tron Legacy
Blade Runner (final cut...for the 2430483rd time)

Each on Blu-ray and each one was spectacular in its own way. And more shall follow...

Moon is indeed one damn good movie. It's our generation's 2001, I'd say. Moon, Sunshine and District 9 might just be the best sci-fi flicks of the past 10 years.

Do you count Children of Men? Because if so, push everything back one (though I still enjoy Moon more)
