most recently I watched Forbidden Planet, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Doomsday, Independence Day, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and last but not least...Metropolis.

Forbidden Planet was a lot of fun to watch and looked great on Blu-ray. It's pretty weird and it makes you wonder what kind of stuff they were smoking back then but from a technical standpoint it's VERY impressive, considering it's already 56 years old.

A.I. was lovely as usual. I don't really understand why this movie received so much negative criticism. I think it's one of Spielberg's greatest achievements. I think most people complain about the "aliens" at the end in the movie. Which is funny because there are no aliens in this movie.

Doomsday is a nice and mindless homage to the Mad Max movies and to 80's action flicks in general. Not the most original movie ever but it's fun if you accept it for what it is.

Independence Day certainly does not work as well as it did in the 90's. Boy oh boy. The final hour of that movie. Boy oh boy. Makes you want to throw your flatscreen out of the window and then elbow drop it.

Turtles was a lot of fun to watch. Yeah, it's silly and if you've never been a fan of the cartoon show then you'd probably hate the movie. But I loved it. Nostalgia at its finest.

Metropolis was the best out of them all though. I recently bought the complete and restored edition of the movie on Blu-ray and wow, it's a whole different movie now. Much more complex. And the Murnau Stiftung did a great job restoring all the additional stuff. Sure, the addional scenes are in not so good shape as they stem from a crappy 16 mm copy of the Argentinian 35 mm version. But if you watch the bonus material and see what that 16 mm copy looked like before the Murnau Stiftung restored it then you really appreciate all the work they've put into it.
There are still a few scenes missing which could not be restored or found but it's really just 2 or 3 short scenes I would say, judging the placeholder text for each scene. So yeah, this one's really impressive and if you can, get it on Blu-ray.

oh and after Metropolis I had to watch Blade Runner for the 28537506th time. Just because Metropolis makes you want to watch Blade Runner. :D

Totally agree. Actually watched the high def transfer of this version in the cinemas a few months back. Triumphant.

Blade: Trinity Well, watched this again since it's been a while. Puuh...what to say... I'm pretty sure that next time I'm going to watch it isn't anytime soon, say maybe 10-15 years would probably be good time to digest all facepalms. That been said, here's something pretty cool: Punisher short

then you should consider importing the British release of this movie from Eureka. Their releases are usually of very high quality. :D

^Full 10.

Here's my summary of the trilogy, if you like:
Batman Begins - 9/10
The Dark Knight - 10/10
The Dark Knight Rises - 9.5/10

Do not be discouraged by that .5 difference. It was small things that caused it, easily overshadowed by the bulk of the film. And fear not, the ending was not a factor, either.

let me guess, the .5 difference is caused by Anne Hathaway, right? heh :P
Can't wait to see it. But I'm gonna have to wait for another week!

Actually, Anne Hathaway was impressive. It was mostly due to edits that were too quick. And (do not read until you see the film!!!):
Spoiler: show
Talia al Ghul's death scene was too abrupt after a nice build up.

Pretty much my thoughts of the trilogy as well. The Dark Knight Rises was great, no doubt about it, but fell slightly short compared to The Dark Knight. I can't tell what it was exactly - Different villains (or, no Ledger's Joker...), the climax being similar to the previous one's (or that I'm not that huge a fan of car chases in movies). Awesome nonetheless. 8)
