Combo breaker!

Saw Ted today. It was hilarious, and had a pretty good story. Loved the lines they gave to Mila Kunis. The Flash Gordon scenes were brilliant.
Naturally best enjoyed by Seth MacFarlane fans. If you're not a fan, results may vary.

First Ironclad just slightly above average swordfest. There's potential specially in the characters but somehow they are left bit unfinished, Paul Giamatti as king John probably is best try of the bunch. But I like good medieval action now and then and this certainly isn't worst of them.

Then The Darkest Hour Actually start isn't that bad at all, invicible aliens that turn people into dust just by touch and main characters that are taken out their comfort zone (americans in moscow). It's the very end that brings this one down, not all the way but enough.

Finally Drive Angry Seen this before but I happen to found it on BD in decent price so what the hell  What's not to like, muscle cars, gunplay, Amber Heard, supernatural and what not... B-movie if I ever saw one and good fun, not too serious.

13 Assassins again, this time on Blu-Ray. Still excellent. Watched the deleted scenes, which are included in the film only for the Japanese release, and thought that had they included them in the Western release, the film would have been that much richer. Oh well, at least it still works.

Finally saw The Dark Knight Rises and I fucking LOVED it. I'm gonna be one of a few to say this but I liked it more than I liked TDK. Don't get me wrong, I'm not gonna badmouth TDK because I love that movie. But TDKR is a much better package overall, I think. Yes, I know Ledger's Joker was phenomenal but if you remove his character from the movie and judge the remaining parts then TDKR is just so much more intense. The threat is just so much bigger and it's so much more adrenaline fueled and it just extends a lot of stuff from the first movie so wonderfully.

Spoiler: show
Yes, the death scenes might have been rather abrupt but I think they worked and at least there was a definite end for Bane and Talia, while the way TDK ended for the Joker left me a bit dissatisfied. The action sequences were immense, loved the whole chase at the end...everything that involved 'The Bat' was awesome.

I was very impressed with Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character and performance and loved the ending. To be honest, I hope they don't reboot the series but continue where this one ended. I know Nolan would not be involved anymore but oh well. Let him produce the new series and make Duncan Jones its director.

I was also pleasantly surprised to see that Anne Hathaway did a terrific job as well. To be honest, I was a bit worried. Thought she could be a game breaker but nope, she did very well.

so yeah, I expected much and got even more!

The Dark Knight Rises at IMAX.

Not only more enjoyable with a second viewing, but I noticed details on the giant screen I missed previously. Bane was more understandable as well (or it could be that I was more attuned to his voice).

watched another shitload of movies including Outland, The Day The Earth Stood Still (the original), Gattaca, Starman, Terminator 2, Minority Report, A Clockwork Orange, The Matrix, Dr. Strangelove or: blah blah blah, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 & 3 and The Prestige

some thoughts on T2: Don't get me wrong, I still think it's a pretty sweet movie. But the Terminator hugging John Connor in the end and telling him he understands now why human beings cry? Seriously? I guess John Connor must have added an emo-chip when he reprogrammed the Terminator. I guess I'm one of the few people who prefer the first Terminator flick.

And I totally forgot how incredibly awful TMNT 3 is. Wow. Just...wow.

TDKR. I need to organize my mind before I can come up with a solid sentence when talking about it.
I was so taken by it, really loved generally everything in it.
My significant other was not so impressed, thought Bane was too short and his voice was bad, didn't like Hathaway's eyes and lips (rest of her was good though :D)
and ending didn't excite him either.

I loved Bane, his voice was odd enough to suit him. Alfred was again brought to life by awesome Caine, and I have to admit this was the first Batman movie to make me cry
(D3 players, Bane sounded so much like Deckard Cain, right??)

Catwoman was believable, I bought her story and reluctancy against crimes, but I have to admit at some scenes the film screen was all about lips and eyes, slightly distracting :)
JOSEPH THAT-GUY-LEWITT. Ohhhh boy, he is good. He is really good. I really liked him. Like a lot. After seeing him in Inception I wished I'd see him in some cool new movie someday, but I had no idea he was in TDKR! So what a pleasant surprise it was to see him in THIS.
I was bugged by the last scenes with him, you know what I mean with the name things

I could talk about this movie all day and night, so I'll just say this.
Last night we watched Kick-Ass (I saw it for the first time) and it was so well done and amusing, I felt sorry for not having seen it before.

My sister has a crush on Bane.

She even told me that she can't wait to get The Dark Knight Rises on DVD so she can curl up in bed and have Bane sing her to sleep.

I thought Tom Hardy was awesome, but for the opening scene, I'd say his voice had a meaner edge in the teaser than in the final film (although "Crashing this plane" remains a pinnacle moment).

yeah, they have altered it. But as a natively no-english speaking person, I say I am glad they changed it!
Even now I had sometimes difficulties understanding him, but it didn't bother me because he was so hot.
Now there, I said it!

In the comments someone said "Darth Vader + Sean Connery = Bane" :D

Well, I've had two trips to the cinema recently. First to see "The Avengers" and then "Dark Knight Rises" and the two experiences couldn't have been more different.
Before "Avengers" I had my first hit of Caffeine in about 6 months which did not sit well, the screen and audio equipment were 20 years old, and to top it off there was a noisy little shit that I and others eventually had to shout at to stop him trying to crack jokes at the film. He got it pretty bad too, as I said the Caffeine was not sitting well. I wasn't kidding about the screen either. This was the cinema in my home town, that I'd grown up with and was actually pretty jazzed to be revisiting. That was until I realised I'd seen Batman Forever on the same equipment. Screen was so dark I could barely see the Hulk/Thor fight. Not a happy camper that day. An SYL Happy Camper perhaps.

So for DKR I hopped on a bus and doubled the price of admission just to get to a decent cinema in Dublin. Decided to check out the swanky new Odeon as they were sprouting on about this "iSense" gimmick and it sounded alright. I'll say one thing, the audio side of things was quite impressive indeed. Sharp picture but the sound was something else altogether.

All in all I liked "Avengers". I felt though I would have enjoyed it more had I not seen the likes of the "Justice League" animated series. Though for some reason I can't explain, I've always been lukewarm on Marvel characters in general. A private viewing of the Director's Cut in the comfort of my own abode ought to determine how I really feel about it. I will say though that Bruce Banner kept reminding me of Seth Brundle from "The Fly" and as a result creeped me out just a little.

Dark Knight, for me, was simply stunning. I'm curious as to how it will stand up to repeat viewings, but for right now I must say I think it's my favourite of the series. Though I had a hard time understanding him for a time, I thought Bane was portrayed wonderfully. The performance had such charisma, I dug it immensely. The one or two little Darth Vader-isms were pretty kick ass too and I'll admit that in my mind I yelled "MC CLOUD!!!" a couple times. Anne Hathaway was tremendous as Catwoman and again I thought the character came across really well. Particulary enjoyed the hysterical screaming routine. Got a good laugh out of that one.
Ah, I could go on and on with the superlatives but I've rambled on long enough. Great film, and a perfect end to I dare say, a perfect trilogy.

Next stop, part one of the "Dark Knight Returns" animated movie. I was pissed at no Kevin Conroy until I found out they've only gone and gotten Peter fucking Weller on the job. Head explodey awesomeness. :D
