Hitman 2, 3 and 4 are getting an HD upgrade and special release:

Is it me, or does this seem like an unnecessary cash grab? While the idea of Contracts and Blood Money in HD does sound cool, those games were awesome for their time, and frankly I'd rather just see new games get released (says the guy who still hasn't bought Absolution yet).

Not just you, sounds like a cash grab to me as well. I haven't played Absolution either, and I'm not even sure I'm going to. I've read reviews saying it's a lot more linear than the previous installments, which were more open-world-like in their approach. Which is exactly why I like the series.

Well, maybe Hitman 6 (already in production) will have more of an open world. I'll give Absolution my attention eventually.

ahem...but seriously. I think I'm almost done or at least am getting closer to the conclusion of the game so I'm doing quite alright, heh. But yeah, having to redo an entire mission because of one tiny mistake ain't the most wonderful thing! :P

That mission pissed me off too, so much that I hammered through The Lost and Damned before coming back to it.

Funny enough, I aced it in one go both times I played it. The helicopter part I actually found easiest. It was the mission prior that gave me more difficulty (and damn near out of health once I was done). Plus I still fuck up races; I prefer to do them early so they don't piss me off later. Hopefully the handling is better in GTA V.

I think I remember that mission. The helicopter part was easy, even shooting all the guys before that wasn't *that* problematic, but I recall there's a part in between where you chase the boat on a dirtbike over the beach... Now that kept fucking me over more than once.

I've turned on my Xbox again last weekend, and I'm still deep into Skyrim. I kinda exploited one glitch and now my character's a massive boss in everything (level 100 all skills), but since the AI adjusts to your level there's still plenty of challenge in exploring dungeons and finalizing certain quests. Only problem is that I have a second playthrough of Mass Effect waiting to be finished as well (last few missions only, renegade character), go through ME2 with that character, then start ME3 with that and my previous paragon character... All the while Fallout New Vegas is also waiting for me to finish the DLCs and then the main story. And now Forza 4 and Spec Ops: The Line are on the way over.

So little time.

Finally got a headset for Xbox Live ($4 w/ shipping on Amazon!) and have had my first getting-invited-to-a-random-group-and-speaking experience, playing AssCreed 3 multiplayer. Was greeted with a man bitching about his whore ex-girlfriend and the kid they had that he's getting a paternity test for. Plus he was drinking, and I quote, "the highest alcohol beer he could find," to which he felt the need to burp continuously throughout the game.

Maybe not worth the $4.

Been playing much Fallout New Vegas lately.
Same as Fallout 3, seems I'm playing it "wrong" (i.e. too much wondering around), as I find myself levelling up way too fast. I'm around level 46 at the moment and I haven't even completed "Ring-a-Ding-Ding!" yet. Done many quests so far, but only those of the original game, I've yet to touch any of the DLCs... :? Feels like you get too much experience from killing enemies, and/or that exp. doesn't scale properly. (cf. Fallout 2 where you get hardly any exp. for killing enemies much under your level) Guess I could take a look at some levelling balancing mods when I'm done with my first playthrough.

While hoping for the Bioshock bundle to come up as a daily deal on Steam's holiday sale, I picked up the three S.T.A.L.K.E.R. as the discounts were pretty damn good (~8.50

wanted to play GTA4's The Lost and the Damned today after I downloaded it 3 years ago and never played it. But then I find out that you gotta download an update for GTA4 first so you can play it (yes, I'm not constantly online with my Xbox 360). Sooooo...what do you do once Microsoft does not offer the current gen online updates anymore? Never play the Rockstar add-ons again? heh :P

Also, has anyone of you fine people tried Far Cry 3 yet? Seems to be getting really, really good reviews and I'm somewhat intrigued. And it's also quite cheap on Amazon UK right now :o I didn't like Far Cry 2 too much though. Not so much because of the game itself but the fact that enemies constantly respawn is kind of annoying. So I'd hope that's a little different in FC3.

I was totally unaware of Dead Space 3 until today. That being said: meh. Talk about a series that should have been only one game. *cough*Call of Duty*cough*

and a Gears of War type cover system in a Dead Space game? WTF?

Yeah, just so much fuck.

However, it does feel like of a throwback to the the first Gears back when it was supposed to be a action horror game. The Kryll made that game great....

Thought I'd pick up Arkham City again, just for fun. Played the Riddler's Revenge challenge missions, which are really all I have left to do. I don't mind the Predator maps so much, but I always get frustrated with the Combat maps, or rather trying not to button-mash and miss my targets. Still, I've moved up from 86% to 88% completion, so that's all right.

BrunoN wrote:Shooting mechanics remains the same in all games - pistols, shotguns and entry level automatic weapons and wildly inaccurate, stuff you can hit broad side of a barn with starts with mid-tier assault rifles like trs301 (or what's the name). In Clear Sky and COP you can install upgrades in weapons making them much better, which of course requires money, which is kinda hard to earn in Clear Sky (much easier in COP). Only advice I can give is install some community bug-fix mod like one from "reclamation project" series or the whole Complete mod (which includes reclamation fixes - you can pass Call of Prypiat complete, the game's good out of the box basically) and adjust your playing style, cautious approach and patient artifact hunting/gathering proper equipment offsets sideways-shooting guns somehow. And enjoy the vistas, Clear Sky's swamps are rather enchanting by the morning.

Thanks, I think I'll go looking for some mods. Btw, do the mods invalidate your saved games, requiring you to start over? (not that I'm far into it, but still)

Just as I hoped, the BioShock franchise bundle popped up in the Steam holidays sale as a daily deal for ten euros. I've made a bit of a start with the first one: defeated the first Big Daddy so far. Reminds me strongly of System Shock 2. Well, not a big surprise considering it being mentioned as a spiritual successor and being worked on by some of the same folk who did SS2. Been enjoying it so far, but I find myself missing the inventory / character info / PDA / map system of SS2. (you just feel so much better equipped when roaming the corridors with an inventory full of soda cans, potato chips and booze! :D ) Most probably a necessity for the consoles and their gamepads (players too...?), but I'm still kind of puzzled how you don't seem to be able to view your currently active plasmids and gene tonics; the screen with their slots seems to be only accessible via the upgrade stations, or have I just missed something?

Hmm... I think I really should install SS2 for my current machine as well, naturally with a couple of high-resolution texture and character model mods. 8)
Damn, that soundtrack!
