So my external hard drive with all my work on it isn't working.

I'm officially sending out an SOS here. I'm close to inserting my head into a wall.

Isn't working as in "doesn't even budge", or "running but making nasty clicking noises"? There's a chance only electronics is borked - you can put platters together with working electronics and you're good. AFAIK it's the case mainly when disk isn't making any awful noises. If it does - you're in trouble.

It beeps for a few seconds when plugged in, and the light is on. It's like 8 months old and has received no knocks, no impact etc. FML.

Beeps are usually to indicate problems/errors - Did you check the manual for this?

Done, and the general consensus is "uhoooooh...."

Going to a data recovery place next week and I'm gonna cradle it like a dying baby with mascara running down my face. It's kinda gay, I got all my invoices on there!

Sometimes if it's not showing up on your computer when you plug it in, it's because the drivers are corrupted or something and if you uninstall the drivers and then plug it in again it might fix itself...windows makes it a pain in the butt though to work out which drivers are for what, so it's just as likely you'd end up uninstalling shit you actually need..

I don't fucking believe it.

I download Firefox in the hopes of getting faster and more effective internet, yet everytime I use it to access this forum, I can't post anything because of these goddamn server errors.

Ironically, Internet Explorer, which I decided to switch from in the hopes of circumventing these errors, allows me to post on this site with less issue!

That's not to say I don't have issues with Explorer, as the server errors have been happening frequently since the forum outage (I blame Gaia), but still, you'd think a better browser would help. I guess not.

Incidentally, posted this via Explorer after several errors occurred. I hope my neighbors think I live with a chimpanzee, considering my reactions.
