Firefox

I'm a Firefox fanboy. Been using it from the start, my first experience with the Mozilla browser was like 5 or six years ago (don't think Firefox existed back then) and never wanted anything else.

I love speed (how can one browser be faster than the other?) and the safety. Also, I'm an extension addict, I have over 60 of them for all kinds of useful and not-so useful purposes.

I thought I'd start a thread, because more people have to start using Firefox (I've talked several of my friends to try it when spyware ruined their Internet Explorers and none of them would want to go back now :) ).
And also, Firefox has these commercial videos called Firefox Flicks, they're great! Check them out here: http://www.firefoxflicks.com.

I've tried using Firefox, but found that Opera was more user friendly, and just as (if not a little bit more) safe. Hate Internet Explorer.

I've been using Firebird/Firefox since version 0.6 and also tested out Opera on a few occasions (I think versions 7.x, 8.51 and some other), but I never have felt the need to use anything other than Firefox :)

I love being able to customize the UI entirely myself, which still isn't fully possible in Opera. Also, the extension system in Opera is very user unfriendly at the moment, especially compared to Firefox.

I've also been using only optimized builds of Firefox since version 0.9 or so (MooX originally and now Mmoy), which do make browsing a lot faster - especially the JPG-optimizations make image loading noticeably faster than regular Firefox, and through that entire surfing is faster.

I had that, the Quicktime plugin made Firefox crash when I loaded the Apple website, while I was posting here about how bad Apple it
Installed Quicktime Alternative and problem solved :)

And about those optimized builds, that sounds interesting. But they're not really available for any recent versions, are they? Like 1.5?

Oh and try Thunderbird as wel, great email client! Outlook is just confusing!

Cheers ill try QT alternative. FireFox 2.0 is the next big step, it should be released around summer. Its still in Alpha stages and i would expect quite buggy. Im on the hunt to download a version and give it a try. Also Mozilla have announced Firefox 3.0 for release in early 2007.

Now thats forward thinking.
And Thunderbird kicks ass on so many new levels. I have been using it since v0.4 and its brilliant.

They are actually more updated than the official builds.

You can get Mmoy's from here:

http://www.vector64.com/WindowsBuilds.html

The X number is for the version, if you get one for example for 1.5.0.1, always get the newest version (highest number, X71 in this case).

As for official 1.5.0.2, there have been reports of it breaking a big load of websites and completely unable to connect to any websites in some cases. There's supposed a fix coming.

Cool, thanks, I will give it a try! Do they affect any extensions?

EDIT: I gave it a try, but now my statusbar is fucked up. It's increased in height with like an inch, and it says "<menuitem id="menu_HelpPopup_reportertoolmenu
----^" in big red writing :(
Downgrading to 1.5.0.1 did not work, probably some extension :(

Firefox Search function is the best.
I mean search in a website (Ctrl+F) but the search bar is great as well.

I favour Firefox over even Safari.
