Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

Journalism is a crazy thing. (and one of the main contributing factors to my current state of burn out)

Heres the deal:

When and if I feel like it, I'll let you know. I'm officially burnt out on travelling, touring, and self promotion. I want to produce and make records for an undetermined length of time. Please respect that.

I love syl and dtb, and the members of those bands mean a great deal to me, but I have to do it for the love, when it becomes a burden, it's time to step away for awhile. After Ziltoid, there will be no real interviews for as long as it takes for me to build up strength again.

I'm sure at some point I'll get the itch to play, but in the meantime, please respect that I've burnt myself out and need to get away from it all. I'm no good to anyone as a tired shell going through the motions for money.

Enjoy the music...enjoy the productions...there will be a ton of them.

btw - Ziltoid is a self parody, and I don't intend on milking it into a commercial light ... mainstream acceptance makes me nauseous...

Thanks,
Devin

Thank you for your post, Dev.
I wish you, Tracy and your child, the very best of luck and happiness in the coming time. You must know by now that you have a very loyal fanbase, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one who will continue loving your music for years to come. I can totally imagine the hard work and stress getting to you.
I've said it before in different topics; I think it's amazing that you shy away from the commerial music world, and even the 'bigger underground labels', and just follow your own heart when it comes to making music. This is something I've copied from you. When I write music, or play live, I do it because I love it, not for the money or not because I have to.
Knowing this, I am already looking forward to your newest releases, because they will all be filled with great music, made with love and care.

"The Dev abides" :P

I'm glad you could tell everyone what the situation is and what your plans are before the whole situation escalated to something ridiculous. Last time I ever trust a journalist.

Devin, next time you turn yourself into something, instead of an alien, turn yourself into a journalist, give interviews in front of the mirror and do your own press writings, it's probably less stressful than dealing with sensationalism :P

We'll have to establish some kind of watchguard, people who will constantly look out for Devin's new releases. :D

Devin, all the best to you, man. I never saw you live, I doubt I ever will, but hey, I can't have it all. Superb music you've got in you head, thanks for sharing.

The man has come forth to shed some light on the situation. Now everything seems right in the world of SYL, DTB, and whatever else. I'm glad this isn't the full-blown end, but more of a new beginning. He can take as much time as he needs to re-coop, as long as it means more METAL!!!

It's your life. Do whatever makes you happy, if anybody complains about something that is making you Happy, then they aren't the kind of person you should pay any attention to anyway. :)

I really hope taking the time off will let you pull yourself together and that the lack of stress will be a conduit for greater creativity.

Just as a reminder, the world does need an ambient bluegrass album....just saying....
