I definitely agree that metal is for the tasteless, probably braindamaged too.

Id love to see Mogwai and Sunn. Too bad I live in a different country =-/

Metal sucks... Thank Allah we've got Devin and Meshuggah, who can still make something original out of a boring, overrated music-genre.

Haven't gone overseas for a festival before, definatly wouldn't for that one.

I agree, yeah. Then again I also think that saying metal is for the brain damaged and tasteless is equally stupid.

Metal makes me happy.

A quick scan of that poster learned me that I know about 2 of the bands. I think I'll pass.

I just don't like the 'basic metal idea'... Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Megadeth, etc, etc. All the 'metal-heroes'. It's so corny, which is why I like Devin making fun of the genre. Cross-over bands like Meshuggah, Dream Theater, etc, just do a lot more for me than the 'real heavy metal'.
Death metal I can listen to for a while, because of the technicality of it, but black metal is just pathetic in my eyes. But hey, thank god for opinions, right?

Not that this is anything major, but don't forget that the Dev developed some his tasty skills and groovy style in the beginning when he practicing stuff like Priest. You gotta remember and respect your roots, man.

I never said I didn't respect it. There are some great songwriters and musicians among them, no doubt about that. I just don't like the music. I know Devin listened to Priest a lot, no problem, but he listened to a lot more music next to metal, which, I'm sure, gave him his more creative talent.

I am not seeing much metal in that lineup. The first 3 headliners on the Saturday gives me a semi-erection, I'd go if it was local.

Well, maybe not brain damaged, but I think at its roots its a very tasteless genre, no matter how "intelligent" or "sincere" Devin or Meshuggah or Neurosis or Opeth or Cynic are, they've still got singers up on stage growling like ogres from a bad fantasy movie.

And that's what I love about it, nothing beats the sound of the electric guitar raping your ear <3
