Pretty boring song, with riffs my grandmother could write (and she's dead.. imagine that).
But, I do like the chorus, really catchy and poppy. Very nice vocal-lines.
I like this new singer more than the old one. I was never a big fan of the opera meets metal thing, but this singer (Annett or something) has a nice poppy voice. And I'm still a big fan of poppy, hence I like The New Black, Slow Me Down...
So erm..

your thoughts?

The new album has gotten fairly good reviews, but
it doesn't matter to me, since i don't like NW.

But about the new song.

Catchy, poppy, some parts of the chorus really remind
me of happy Corrs

I expected a lot worse, so from that point I was suprised.
I think Anette with her fun appearance and nice voice
fits this Nightwish well.

I didn't turn the channel when it was on today in radio,
so that must mean something :D

But it still doesn't make me a fan.
I would love to hear the album, since the reviews
have been accepting.

The new album is killer. They've just got a typical singer now. The band still has their own unique sound.

The first Nightwish song I've heard that I really liked (some others I have respected as good works in their own disney-metal genre). Some vocal melodies in the verse sound quite like Tarot - written by Mr. Hietala perhaps?

I think the music itself in Nightwish is awesome, but Tarja's vocals always held me back from really liking them. I got Once and I only listen to it every once in a while.

I really like the new stuff a lot better. Tarja is talented, but I just think it's a little over the top for me. The Poet and the Pendulum is a good song. I'll have to get this album when it comes out and possibly go watch them in the Spring.

na, na, na! you're mixing things up here. iced earth, nightwish and blind guardian are pretending to be serious bands (in which they fail), while that great movie is obviously a very expensive farce and even tells you so. that's a difference!
if sucky bands would give you a hint every now and then that they're not meaning it, the metal world would be much funnier.

to go back to topic: this new singer helps nightwish in exactly this way: she seems much less serious than tarja. which is cool. no one can take one-dimensional bombast-metal with an opera singer for serious, but with a pop singer, you not supposed to do so anymore.

yap, made my point. hopefully.
