The Mars Volta's new album The Bedlam in Goliath drops on the 29th. Caved in and got the leak due to anticipation and it's definitely going to be one of the top albums this year.

Any other Volta fans around?

The Mars Volta is my favourite band nex to Dev.
I bought the bedlam in goliath a couple of days ago and i love it!
its pretty different form the previous albums, TBIG is a non-stop wall of sound without any of the ambient soundscape stuff found between tracks on the other albums and the music is more intense than before.
In a recent interview Omar said that their next album wil be an acoustic album and we can expect a live dvd at the end of this year :D

And Omar's solo albums The Apocalypse Inside of an Orange & Calibration (Is Pushing Luck and Key Too Far) will be released on cd early february.
the guy wrote 5 solo albums and a part of Amputechture during the short period of time he lived in Amsterdam, he should visit The Netherlands more often!

i listened to them on letterman and the song they played on it was dreadful. it sounded like they were making it up as they went along

I have a couple of their albums, but out of the two, I've only listened to Francis the Mute once (De-loused never). Not that I didn't like what I heard, I just haven't invested much time into them. :)

Downloaded Bedlam last night. I realy enjoyed it.

I didn't like Amputecture much. Saw them live 3, maybe 4 years ago and they were great. I'll have to check out Francis the Mute sometime

Quite mediocre.. I did like them 6 years ago-ish but I can't stand them now.

Francis the mute is quite cool

Mars Volta gets on my nerves when they do annoying things just for the sake of "originality", like stopping the songs all of the sudden on Amputechture, or doing way too many noise parts.

But i quite liked bedlam, i've been listening to it on a daily basis. Best song in it is Ouroboros, hands down.

And their new drummer is INSANE.

And yeah, the dude's hair is just... too much. Even when you really want something to be over the top, sometimes you get past the line and it's just plain ridiculous to absolutely anyone
