Hey man, transtube's pretty killer for the price range. The Rage series is a bit too low gain for my tastes though. Hate to sound like a corporate shill, but you should look into the Vypyr series, it's the same price range and does metal (and most other tones) way better justice, plus it'd fill in for your broken delay pedal.
Might as well let my first post be about something cool, my gear:
7 string Jackson KE7 (Thing is nuts, I can tune it down to F or E2 with standard strings and they barely even flop. Right now it's tuned to F#, but the high e string is broken, so it's a 7 string guitar with 6 strings tuned like an 8 string, hehehe)

I only tune to B, use thick strings, and still feel it doesn't sound quite as tight as I'd like.
