i just bought a pair of noise canceling headphones the other day, which are really useful for hearing very quiet parts of songs that would otherwise be easy to miss. i was listening to Deadhead a little bit ago, and something grabbed my attention from around 5:00-5:55. very faintly, underneath the harmonized ambient type vocals, i could have sworn i heard something being repeated. so i listened again, and much to my surprise, i'm pretty sure that Devin is repeating "I'm not the one who's so far away" on one note, underneath every other melody. i'm sure some people here remember this song:

i could be hearing things, but having seen the protools session for Supercrush, i wouldn't be surprised to find out this was true.

Ha, Godsmack. I remember my sister's Hipster Kitty-esque obsession with them, too. Well, their first album, anyway.

Just listened to it again, and you're right; I never really noticed it as an easter egg before, just a cool part of the song.

Yeah, I thought Godsmack when I read this, too. That's a pretty great find.
