All that I've known is gone, time to be moving on...

maybe i'm way off, but i always interpreted the end to be that he's passed out "in the corner by the dock" and either is lost in unconsciousness or death itself. 'the death of music' being some kind of internal or next life (depending on weather he has died or not) experience.
seeing as, if i'm not mistaken, 'things beyond things' is a bonus track and therefore doesn't play much into the storyline. the whole album is, like, fucking steeped in death. "feel old/gone now in a field of green/gone where feelings go" is extremely difficult for me to interpret as anything other than death or at least a dream of it.

i never put much effort into finding out the intended story to this album, i just rolled with my own interpretations. i almost don't want to know if i'm right or wrong.
