Does anyone know how Dev chooses bands to produce? Does he just pick the highest bidder or does he only pick bands he knows personally or those who interest him?

His production list is very varied, so I was wondering what draws him to do these jobs.

Tour with him and you he'll most likely end up producing your band...providing that you have the cash. ;)

I dunno, I saw an interview with him and he didn't seem all that excited about them, he just sort of mumbled something like they'll be really popular

Most producers don't have the luxury of being nitpicky.

Usually it boils down to two things...

1: A general interest in the band/artist and what they're doing.
2: Money.

And, usually if you throw enough 2 at the producer in question it can make up for lack of 1.

1. if you want to work with the band
2. if they want to work with you
3. if they've got some cash behind the project (usually a lot if you don't like them)
4. If you're not tied up with something else, when they're free
5. Luck.

ps. i hope devin starts producing good bands >.> I like Soilwork, but not so much NBC onwards, and otherwise the bands he's produced have been pretty crappy.

Contrary to that, I found that From Mars To Sirius sounded cold and soulless...

Are we listening to the same band? Because I don't get that impression at all. I feel the vitality and emotion easier with Gojira.

FMTS is far from soulless.
