Just a little joke about the everlasting struggle between 'metalheads' and 'punks'.
Since Devin Townsend plays punkrock riffs, I guess it's cool for a metalhead to play or listen to punk. You know, Devin being God and all... everything he does turns to gold :P

Yeah I know.. not a really good joke, but hey, they can't all be winners.

I reckon you all need to listen to "Earth Vs The Wildhearts", nice mix of metal and punk...

Some nice soul put the other 3 songs on youtube, so for what could be all of Dev with the Wildhearts...

Liberty Cap (Full) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twWAc-Km9wA
My Baby Is A Headfuck - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnDD6ikQVpg
Love u Til I Dont - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLehD44YQJg

Dev seem to be enjoying "skanking it up" for the last one, definate grins there...

I must admit I didn't get them before - marked them as punkey band and skipped. But this is pretty badass, I love the vocals, keys, whole reggae part and that heavy ending. Cool!

Not worthy of its own thread, but the Wildhearts mention Devin and Vai briefly in "9 Things You Never Knew About The Wildhearts", some feature in a UK guitar mag this month, down near the bottom...

Ah yes, Total Guitar I believe, I have that one kicking around here somewhere, need to find it haha.

Also, forgive me for asking what is probably a stupid question (I have a tendency to) but where did anyone get these recordings in the first place?

Almost makes up for Devin and the Wildhearts both playing in Glasgow within two weeks of me moving to the States  Almost...........

That was an amazing gig, and the first time I saw Devin live.

I wasn't really into the Wildhearts that much though, so I got the last train back to Dundee shortly after their set started. (because the alternative was spending all night surfing the net in Easy Everything, the internet cafe, and having done that at a previous gig, it was something that I wanted to avoid)

get your hands on "fishing for luckies" (the long version with the fish artwork), as it's got their most progressive and varied stuff on it. lots of long epic songs, but with so much stuff going on. and all melodic as fuck. to be fair, i could recommend their stuff all day, but since you're first and foremost a devin fan, you'd be best off starting with "fishing for luckies."

i realise you didn't ask anything about which wildhearts albums to buy, but hell, you actually NEED to get at least one, or your life is incomplete.
