Natural Science

I was digging through my Dad's CD collection, and I found a Rush tribute album called "Working Man." On the back there were some pretty cool musicians, among them were James LaBrie, Mike Portnoy, John Petrucci, Sebastian Bach, Fates Warning, Steve Morse, Michael Romeo, and Devin Townsend! Devin sang Natural Science AND HOLY SHIT IT SOUNDS INCREDIBLE. I honestly think I prefer his version over the original. I strongly recommend that if you are a Rush fan, you should buy this record NOW. James LaBrie singing Red Barchetta was pretty cool too >_>

His performance is a little bit too over the top... but it's a cool song anyway...

"Living in their pools
They soon forget about the sea..."

Devin ownz on Natural Science. 8)

Great album! I mean, Billy Sheehan, Dean Castronovo, Fates Warning, George Lynch, Eric Martin, plus the ones Nathan mentioned...orgasmic for me, personally. :D

One of Devin's best vocal performances, if you ask me. Yeah, it's over the top a bit, but the vocal dynamics on that song are simply outstanding.

Yes its completely over the top, but it's so amazing! Especially this:

A quantum leap forward

In time and space

THE UNIVERSE LEARNED TO EXPPAANNDDDD

Dev over the top? Next thing you know, you'll be saying the same thing about Jim Carrey!

I am a big Rush fan so when I listened to Dev's performance it seemed a bit too much... but that's just comparing the cover song to its original... it doesn't mean I dislike that...

I agree with Eyesore, the dinamics are just fantastic, pure Devin's trademark on this one... :)

BTW, who is he playing with on this song? :o

Bought this album when I was in Oslo, looked at the back of it and saw Devin, bought it immediately. Haven't listened too much to it though.

I'm probably Australia's biggest Rush fan. Have flown from Down Under twice to North America just to see em. Alot of conservative, stuffy old Rush fans stated that they hated Dev's version of NS, but I absolutely LOVED it. Over the top? Abso-fuckin-lutely! And LOVING it!!!

Might go dig that out and listen to it now.....

Dev's track is great. My favorite Rush song.

I may come under fire for this, but Jack Russell does the best vocal performance on the album IMO.
