OK, I started downloading "Synchestra" while reading Devin's *sigh*-thread, felt sorry, decided to stop the downloads and deleted the already finished files from my PC.

There's plenty of other stuff I can sink my teeth into until January 27th. Right now I'm listening to the new Waltari album "Blood Sample". And yes, I downloaded that album a couple of days ago, because they didn't have any copies left at their merchandize stand when they played here in Heidelberg two weeks ago. I will buy it in March when it will be officially released - and yes, I bought a Waltari t-shirt after the show.

Looking forward to the official release of "Synchestra"!

I finally had a chance to hear afew tracks of the leaked version of Synchestra, I was very happy with the final outcome of the album...Dev's vocals are sounding great and the whole album fits in well with everything.

I can sence elements of Terria and Accelerated Evolution in the album, which is pretty cool because from history those are Dev's two favorite projects that he did...so it's good to see Dev happy with the whole sound and outlay of the album.

I'm still waiting to hear the track with Vai.

Ok, here's the thing.

I downloaded the first 9 tracks from somebody on here but didn't listen as I wanted the whole album to hear in one go.

I got the link for the full album from somebody on here and set it to d/l overnight.

I got up in the morning, had a read of the forum, thought for a bit and deleted the lot.


The thing that's made me mention this now is that it's getting silly on here with people declaring themselves either "weak" and apologetic, or somehow holier than thou because they're waiting. Do we really need either post on here ? I mean, people posting every day how they "made it through another 24hours" - for pitys sake this isn't AA or the like ! It does neither section any favours, apart from maybe winding up other fans into wanting to hear it, and thus becomes counter-productive.

We're all human and are born with certain levels of willpower. Some eat one cube of choc and put the rest back, some vomit after the 14th bar. That's life. I acknowledge I obviously have more than some and less than others but hey, so what ?

I've happily joined in with the threads on here because, frankly, it's swamping the DTB areas and I have views on the whole d/l subject but it was a breath of fresh air to see the British Comedy thread (great work) for example.

All I'm saying is that this place has a PM system if you want to get the album and, if you have sufficient willpower to withstand the d/l urge then you're actually the same as 97% of the population who won't have a chance to hear it until January. Is it really worth trying to earn a badge of honour for something you should be doing anyway ?

Do I wish I'd heard it ? Of course I fuckin' do, these ears were made for being shredded by Dev - but I just think it's equally lame to shout about being worse OR better than the rest.

So, now I've made myself equally unpopular with both camps I'll withdraw.

The whole situation has escalated and is definitely overexagerated. The people who downloaded it look like heartless assholes, and the people who havent act like they would eat Devin's shit if he asked him to. I do agree that it is rediculous, leaks come out for every album, and this one is no different. If its by a band I really like, I buy the cd anyways. And sometimes I dont even know about the cd until the day before or after its released, so I dont have to be tempted into downloading. It seemed a lot easier to wait for Alien to come out though...

Does not stealing someone else's intellectual property make me a better person (in that respect) than someone who does? You betcha. Some moral standards are non-negotiable.
