Or more so, Bob Rock's pathetic production. Anyway, I digress. Only a few more weeks and its Synchestra time, yey :D

Sorry bro, but if you are seriously trying to compare guzzling a soda in Walmart with immersing into the art of Devin Townsend, then you did not understand what Dev is about, almost 1500 posts on the official Devin Townsend forum or not.

Not entirely true. Devin's words regarding his music: "Use it, then throw it away." The problem lies elsewhere.

Mr. Townsend is entitled to his insignificant opinion of course, but don't forget that Devin and the music he records are two different entities. The music is already there and Dev's just the medium that makes it audible for everybody else!

Seriously, I consider that statement to be some kind of winking understatement - or maybe he changed his mind, but in an earlier interview (pre-Terria I think) he talked about (not) having children and about his music as his heritage to the world, as his children.

Now this is a concept I can embrace. I am not able to get rid of my emotions, my moods and my memories like a worthless empty bottle of lemonade. And I never "throw away" the music of my favourite or once favourite artists.

Children are to be used and then thrown away. Ask the Priest.

Priest, the band?

Nah, I'm agnostic, so the priest's opinions are just some tiny voices drowned out in a disharmonious sea of noise created by 6 billion poor and aimless human beings.

Seriously, he even claims his music to be just entertainment, thats what Dev is about. It is all about good music. If it means something for you, great, let it. But it probably was not the original intent of Devin to make a religious cult of people whose life revolves around his music. All he wants is for people to listen to his music, and buy a cd or a t-shirt to help him pay his bills.

I still cant believe that there are like 4 threads, like 20 pages long, all arguing about the morality of downloading Synchestra.

I'm sure Dev and co. are doing thier best to secure the album, as i'm sure all bands do, but it as we all know it rarely ever works and sure enough out comes a leak.

The question then becomes; d/l or not d/l?

With all the great words and exitement i'm not sure I will be able to resist . . .

From what I see lots of people here already have it. Shame in a way, but thats how technology works these days. However, if it werent for the internet and a buddy sending me some of Devins tunes, I wouldnt have even known who he was, or baught the whole tree of his cds, or 6 t shirts!
So hey, it seems to be a two way street. You will always find weasels who want a free-bie. At the same time, you will find that people that find out about his music without spending anything, will turn around and support him with many purchase.
Cheers.

I agree. I downloaded the two songs that were available from the AE : Storm and Suicide and it didnt ruin the album,by any means, but it just.... I dont know .. made it a bit out of synch. (pun intended) when I actually baught the album. So I wont download any of Synchestra prior to purchase.

Let's examine things for a second, I was not comparing Devin's work to drinking soda in Walmart. I was using it as an example of what impact my downloading of the album has on Devin. Just me. I drank a soda before paying for it, but Walmart got WHAT IT WANTS! I downloaded Synchestra before it's been released but Devin will get WHAT HE WANTS! It's not what he wants, you say?

The Dev wrote:*sigh*

If you dig it, please buy a copy or a t-shirt.

rock on.

Dev.

Yes, Devin is not happy the album leaked. Who would be? But what is it that Devin wants from us fans? He wants support!! SUPPORT! And that's what he has gotten from me for years now! Undying support. He wants us to buy the album and/or a shirt, which I've been doing for years now. Yes, I downloaded the album, but I did not leak it nor am I sharing it. Place your blame for the leak elsewhere and quit with the ridiculous self-righteous nonsense! Every person here has downloaded albums before, to deny it is retarded. If you want to feel high and mighty by declaring you won't download it, that's fine. Have fun.

Because it has the same shit other stores have and it's much cheaper! Why do you question me? Trying to set up a "you're poor" joke? Before you try, I'm not poor, just smarter than people who don't shop at Walmart.

i rememer the alien-leak from my friend. the last track wan´t delivered with it and the sound was really bad, as far as i remember and some tracks were not complete.

leaks can help doing advertisement, esp. when fans live in europe and will be the last to get it.

but using security-holes and so called friends to get a copy out of the copy-streets and that things are illegal. i hope devin can find the one who did it and nail his fuckin head on his cellar-studio-wall.

beside that you have to know that in germany, there is no metal-tv or metal-radiostation (only viva, mtv here..i miss vh1) and so the only source for news is internet.

ok there are a few online-streams, but the most of them don´t play devin-stuff, and when they do it, they only play SYL-songs.

leaks do not replace the original thing and i´m looking forward to get it soon from amazon or my local dealer.

HAHAHAHAHAH
whatever floats your boat. Why should I set up a punchline or joke when you are such a spazz , its simply fun to watch you lash out :)
That should be the new slogan for Walmart: "Walmart... For the smarter people"
