I think he said either during one of the guitar clinics or a live performance when he was on the 2011 Euro tour that his brother-in-law custom made the metal horn protectors (flames, and non-flame on the single pickup v). I think he said he might make them available for purchase. It was a on a video I watched on youtube back in March. I saved the video to my computer, but that computer died and I'm still in the process of getting the files off of it. And I'm not sure if Devin was serious as I wasn't there and could be remembering wrong. :)

Yep, he said it at the guitar clinic in Manchester that it was his brother-in-law who made the 'boots' (as he called them)- heard it with mah own ears.
He was being serious, not sure if they'll be available/on the purchasable guitar though.

Yeah, that's right he called them boots. lol No the booties aren't gonna be on the production model, but I thought he alluded to being able to get them from Dev or his brother-in-law like they would put up like a merch store item or something. Probably wishful thinking on my part though.

Those guitar clinics were awesome. Glad they were posted to youtube. Laughed myself silly when he was talking about the guitar world stuff he did. Then I had to turn around a get a month of Lick of the Day app on my iPod Touch. Well worth the $5 or whatever it was as he did like 3 of them. Hope he does more or even an updated Great Average guitar or like he did for Addicted and Ki on youtube. :)

Not quite, he did (jokingly) mention that you could nag his brother-in-law for them. Being able to get hold of them would be sweet, even as add-on seperates if you wanna to go the whole distance with the look of the custom as well as its sound.
If the video you saw where he mentioned those parts had unbelievably shit audio quality/camerawork I apologise sincerely just in case it was one of mine. If not, cool. :P

Seconded!! Since seeing the guitars with the boots since March it would be weird seeing them with out, but even without I bet they are still sexy. :)

I was so curious as to the guitars I watched all the videos from the Euro tour and the clinics I could find. TBH, I thought all of them were great. Felt like I was there myself. Thankfully I have lots of down time at work and could spend about all day watching them and researching the components of my new guitar rig that I can have finished by year's end.

Does anyone think/know if the single coil EMG is even a possibility? Since people have been asking for one for a while now and there still isn't a production model available.

I contacted my Sweetwater rep and he got back with me today. He said the best thing to do is order one as it's a special order for them I guess. So I said to put me down for one. I asked him if there are 2 models or just 1 and if there are 2 what the specs were, so if he knows I hope to hear something soon. :)

Update:

Just got done with the special order and my rep contacted Peavey and asked all the questions I had about the guitar. Peavey responded back pretty fast and there is just one guitar model and the specs are the same as what was first announced just like how it is here: http://iheartguitarblog.com/2010/01/namm-2010-peavey-pxd-vicious-devin-townsend-signature-7-string.html.

PXD Vicious Devin Townsend Signature Model

Designed with Devin Townsend
7-string baritone instrument with 28″ scale
Maple neck-through-body design for incredible sustain
Alder body wings
Locking Sperzel® tuners
Adjustable bridge with string-through design
EMG® 7-string active neck pickup
EMG® 81 7-string active humbucking bridge pickup
Volume control
Three-way pickup toggle switch
Ebony fretboard with 24 jumbo frets
Glow-in-the-dark side fret markers for dark stages
Gun metal gray finish with black accents

He said they are shipping soon, but since it's a new model that it could end up not shipping until like August if there are like issues with manufacturing etc so I'm not all like WTF. lol
