Hi Dev..First, excuse my English, as a French person from Montreal, I'll do my best to be the clearest as possible. To introduce myself, I'm a normal guy ( I think ) from Montreal who, like everybody here, really enjoy what you made musically. During the last year, I've pass trough all the record you made yourself and with DTP and those records are awesome..

During the last year, I've been really surprised to see how close you are with your Fans, by Twitter and especially on Youtube with all the updates video about the DPT records. I think this is really a mark of respect to your Fans. I'm also following RVP on Facebook and its always a pleasure to chat with him.. The thing that blow me away was when you made your Garage Sale. Selling personal stuff to have money to produce an album... That is very uncomon and that thing really shake me. Few years ago, Marillion did a similar stuff (with the Marbles record) by asking the Fans to pay the album before they made it and like a really Fan should do, I've send my money, 80$, hoping I did'nt waste my money..Finally it was the best record they ever did because, they said, without that support, Marbles was impossible to produce.

Being free musically brings a lot of problem and when someone ask a little hand, we should respond positively. That's why tonight I've purchase the Ultimate Bundle for Decon an Ghost.. just to say thank's buddy !!

And just a another little thing, how can you made critics more than 1 month before an album release ?? Those who made a review for Decon deserve no longer respect.. Good review or bad review doesnt matter... what we should really matter is the fact that those review site have also illegaly download the album and they permit themself to made critics on something they got illegaly.. weird...

Keep on enjoying our lives by doing some magik.

You're speaking about forum-reviews by some random internet people or reviews from music portals? If the latter - there's fair chance these reviews were based on legit promo copies, which are being sent to reviewers long before the release date.

Welcome here! It's a great place, with great people! Take it from another Montrealer!
Also Devin is indeed awesome, and that's why we are here!

well said! but yea be careful to whom you are referring w/ the reviews. i would think if there is a review on a music site, it's based on a legal promo copy that was sent to them. and personally, i don't really respect the whole downloading the leak early thing (i mean come on, we waited 2 years, what's another couple months?) but Dev has said he's cool w/ it so people are free to review it on this forum. plus, it makes everyone more excited for the release so i guess it's not a bad thing.

I've seen some review site who said that they've listened Decon from Youtube.. a really professional way to judge an artist. By the way I dont really care about review site because I think I'm smarter enough to judge by myself what I like or not.

According to those sites, I should have bought the last record of Susan Boyle and Air Supply... hummm scary...

hey man, you made an awesome post

marillion are an excellent band... misplaced childhood was an album cover that always scared me when i was a kid, for some reason. love the record.

i think what you say are pretty damn valid points, but i think with certain people reviewing you stumble into two problems

the first being that most official reviewer type places (including magazines) have got actual copies of the album from record labels, or dev himself, to review. this is so they can review and build up hype (hopefully) before the albums release. magazines are a good example

the second is there are a lot of people that are fans of devin's music and they would like to hear and discuss his output as soon as they can... if they get a chance to they will, but they're also the kind of folk who will then have the exact same experiuences, if not more intensified, when buying the album and getting it on release date. I think as a musician you want your music to be heard, and if you have fans you want it to be heard by them brcause to know that you're enriching someones life must be an amazing feeling... i f dev could've i'm sure the whole dtp would have been released over a year ago, only money is a constraint. hence he don't mind the leaks
